Queries for using SubtitleEdit

Hi all,

Have been using SubtitleEdit for quite a few months now. I try to apply the principles listed on this Netflix page plus adding my own style.

I have some queries I'm hoping more experienced users can provide input to enhance my proficiency.
  • Batch multiple replace: Is there a way to add "whole word" as an option like there is in regular "replace" mode? Eg., I'm trying to replace "OK" with "O/okay" in bulk.
  • Is there a way to batch alter italic markings to go from "<i>JOHN: Thanks!</i>" to "JOHN: <i>Thanks!</i>"?
  • Music lyrics: Can I set a rule to place a musical note at the beginning and end of each text box, or the beginning and end of each dashed line plus italicize?
  • Merging lines: Where there are no dialogue dashes, how to not merge if there is a speaker ID? Eg., Do not merge "Welcome.<br />JOHN: Thanks!" or "JAMES: Welcome.<br />JOHN: Thanks!"
  • Merging lines: Where there are no dialogue dashes, is there any way to smart detect and not merge sentences which could be being said by different speakers? Eg., separate sentences.
  • OCR: I always use binary image compare. How do I stop it incorrectly detecting a quotation mark as a single apostrophe?
  • OCR: What does the "image pre-processing" slider do? Is it better to set higher or lower?
  • OCR: Once PGS has been converted to VOBSUB in a program like BDSup2Sub, I find it's harder to OCR than the original PGS. Why is this and is there any way to repair?
