Can someone assist me please. Something has changed on my PC where AVStoDVD (231 or 232 alpha) fails when starting the encode (with HC0.24 or 0.25). Here is the log file

Hello MrC,
First of all, thank you for your software .I've been searching through the whole thread, but I havenīt found anything related to it. Excuse me if this has been reported before. I started to use your software (2.3.1) to convert NTSC avi's to PAL with the speedup option. The video is converted without problems to 25 fps (outstanding HC ), but the sound sometimes work and others, doesnīt.So I have uninstalled AVStoDVD, FFDshow anda AC3Filter. Then I have installed FFDshow and AVStoDVD again. And everything was the same, without working properly .So I was looking at what could be wrong, and finally I saw on the title info that the audio was marked just as a "Direct Stream Copy" instead of being re-encoded to 25 fps. I "fixed" it by unticking "Keep DVD compliant audio". Could you look how to fix it?. I've got the log with the encode that works properly, but if you want I can repeat the encode with the "bug". Also I've seen in the log in "Preferences" sectionthis: "PAL Speedup: -1" when I also seen "PAL Speedup: True". Is this just a comestic bug?. Regards and thank you in advance .

@ Mr. Monte
there's something wrong in your decoding chain. Please check your codecs. Moreover the project avs script you have posted have a DirectShowSource call, instead the error you are now reporting is from FFMpegSource: please do not change AVS Source Filter while trying to understand what's wrong. Do not forget to download the 2.3.3 Alpha hotfix. @tom942 first of all welcome there and thanks for using AVStoDVD and reporting back your experience. I assume that your source title has a AC3 audio track, right? By default AVStoDVD keeps DVD compliant AC3 track. So far I have left to the user the duty to check if a audio track must be kept or not: of course if you are using the 'PAL SpeedUp' feat, the audio source track must be re-encoded and not kept. I can add a msg warning about that in title load routine. '-1' or 'true' values are boolean variables not converted to integer in the log routine. In the latest 2.3.2 alpha the cosmetic bug has been fixed. ![]() Bye |

Mr. C,
Where do you get 233 Alpha hotfix? i went to your homepage and it's not there. I went back in this thread and only saw 2.3.2 hotfix on page 77. How do I fix my decoding chain? What would be the best way? i have nothing but FFDSHOW and Halli loaded. No codec packs and using Win7Tweaker all are set to FFDSHOW. Is there a program or script to reset all to default? |

O.k..using graphedit, I was able to find out that on MKV's with AC3 or DTS, FFDSHOW was NOT decoding audio (video was fine). However, MKV's were associated with Windows Media Player, so they played fine.
I was able to correct the issue by REINSTALLING AC3Filter. however, why was FFDSHOW unable to decode? I looked at the FFDSHOW decoder setup and AC3 and DTS were set to libdts and lib52? TIA |

@Mr. Monte
of course I was referring to 2.3.2 alpha hotfix. Sorry for the typo. If ffdshow was not able to decode AC3/DTS audio, you have made the right choice to reinstall AC3Filter. To understand why ffdshow is not working with AC3 and DTS you should address the question to the authors. ![]() Bye |

Yes, it was an AC3 stream. It is the tipical AVI with an XviD and one or two AC3 streams. I forgot to write it down. Sorry
.I thought that if I tick "Pal speedup" in "Preferences", both, audio and video, were reencoded without user interaction. The warning, as you said, would be useful , or even do the change the soft itself, without user interaction, what do you think?.A thing that I donīt understand was that I tried an AVI with a length over 2 hours 30 minutes, and the video and audio were enconded without me doing anything .Greetings .

Ok. I tried a movie with exactly a 2:46:30 length. I added the AVI (with an XviD stream and a AC3 stream), and the soft, automatically speed up the video and the audio to PAL, without modifying anything by me, I mean without unticking "Keep DVD Compliant audio".
Why this time the audio was not marked "Direct Stream Copy" and was properly re-encoded?. That's what I donīt understand .Greetings .

@shreeit
I suppose you are referring to audio encoding time: about 2h40min. Surely ffmpeg (encoder for large 5+1 audio tracks) is not a lightning bolt... Some improvement could be achieved by adding the "-thread n" command option (to be tested). BTW, what is your configuration (CPU, RAM, etc.)? ![]() Bye |
