x86 vs x64 Avisynth
Simply put: Am I going to see a dramatic performance improvement using x64 Avisynth rather than x86 Avisynth?
I'm running an i7-2600k @ 4.6 GHz, using MeGUI right now which uses avs4x264mod to pipe data from 32-bit avisynth to 64-bit x264. Is the 64-bit version still supported? I've heard that a lot of filters were never coded for 64-bit Avisynth, and never will be. I tried using it for a short time a while back and recall issues even using the built in resize filters in the 64-bit version of Avisynth. |

only reason I see for 64bit avisynth atm. would be that x64 Avisyynth can use more RAM,... (not just 2GB, which are not really far away if you use Avisynth MT and HD Material in combination,...) Quote:

Some of the newest plugins available as x64. But what you heard mostly didn't changed. If all filters you need exist in x64 form you can use it but personally I don't see the reason for it. Its not going to be faster. BTW this is common misconception. Most people for some reason think that x64 is absolutely can and should be faster. That's not true most of the time.

Having a bit of a problem... using x86 MeGUI with avs4x264mod... I'm only maxing at 50% CPU usage... and FPS is very low compared to when using native x64 avisynth and x264.
Not using any slow filters at all in my avs script... just resize. Any idea why this is? Much appreciated |
