FULL-BD refers to BD-Rebuilder output though so while it may sound misleading when concerning retail BD it plays no role in the graph.
It could also be BD5/9 have PIP issues while BD25/50 don't. I didn't remember seeing any mention of red or blue laser media being used in the reports of it working or not working. At first I wasn't planning on having the FULL-BD column as there's already a nice list of confirmed working players but I thought it might help to list what players have been tested and don't work. Rodger: do all test samples play ok? If you get a chance does a full-bd done with bd-rb work without removing the auxdata folder?
zodex: thanks for the test results, i added them to the list. Do you have a chance to try out old-bd, avchd-crop-720 and/or full-bd from bd-rb? |

Who even said PIP doesn't work? Nobody. The reason PIP doesn't work at the moment (as far as any of us know) is because BDRB just discards the PIP track it anyway so it wouldn't play on any player. There has been no test to even check if it works. The only reason it's even there is because (and this is my gut feeling ) a few people such as myself who own the Sony BDP-SXXX have reported that discs containing PIP tracks could potentially be causing problems for BDRB as it seems to map the wrong streams so that selecting 1 audio language for example will have the effect of playing a different one.I suspect this "issue" has been lost in translation and appeared as "has issues with PIP discs". Which is simply not true to anyone's knowledge. There's no reason to suggest it wouldn't play...Don't even know how it got misinterpreted to this point, unless someone has checked? |

So shouldn't be a problem, but hey...you know never know Point is, nobody does know and there is no reported problem to the effect of saying PIP does not work for those Sony players. (Hence my post) If there is a problem, well that's great too just I've not read anywhere anyone actually checking.

I'm using 1.8.35. Is it the old or new bd?
I currently don't own a standalone player but I would like to start creating blu-ray backups (just the movie) and burn them to disks. Which version should I use for best future compatibility? I guess the old one as seen from the chart? Thank you for your help

@all: I created a small BDMV application to display some of the player's capabilities.
Check this post and comment here if you wish.

Rodger: thanks for the results I updated the first post.

The only playability difference I know of between OLD-BD and AVCHD is the AUXDATA folder. 3 Denon's and a Phillips need this folder while 4 Samsung must not have this folder. I wouldn't suggest using bluray output after 1.8.34 for your case because it's yet to be tested thoroughly on red and blue laser media. A 100% working version with all types of players doesn't exist. So I don't think a version can be recommended for your situation. It all really depends on what player you get supports. I have a feeling Denon and Philips requiring AUXDATA folder is more likely to change then Samsung's situation. Last edited by turbojet; 24th April 2009 at 18:03. |

Another request I posted in multiAVCHD thread:
Please someone with Panasonic/Samsung test if your players will play: Quote:

When all files are AVCHD compliant BD players should not require CERTIFICATE/AUXDATA or any other then the above listed. I posted this here just to let you all know if you didn't check this thread. |

B-pyramids may be a problem to Pioneers, although I'm not 100% sure (need more sources to check this). ->http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.ph...22#post1279322.
After reencoding the video to 100% BD compliance it worked perfectly. |

I just bought a Sony BDP-S550 and I can not seem to be able to get DTS-HD MA or Dolby TrueHD to work from DVD media (AVCHD)...
Is this normal or have I got a faulty unit? These discs seem to play back fine on my PS3 (although of course HD audio is decoded internally). Is there any workaround that anybody knows of to enable HD audio from DVD media on this player? Also, it might be a good idea to include which players support HD audio from DVD Media (AVCHD). Edit: I tested Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA on the Panasonic DMPBD35 and DMPBD60 today. They both played (via bitstream) DTS-HD MA from DVD media with no problem. However, Dolby TrueHD kept sticking and audio was screechy (if that's a word) and broken. Last edited by Ryu77; 30th April 2009 at 01:25. |

Should I assume that nobody here is really interested in HD audio on DVD media?
I know in most cases space constraints make this an unsuitable choice. However, I have found that movies under 1 hour 45 minutes in length can still include HD audio with enough bitrate to spare for good quality 1080p video. As I sell Home Theater/TV's, I have access to quite a few players and I can help compile which players support HD audio from DVD media and which do not. I really think it's a good idea to include this on the list. We just got the LG BD370's in, I am hoping they might support TrueHD as well as DTS-HD MA... I will post back soon.
