ITU on AutoGordianKnot?
I wonder, does AutoGordianKnot set the reencode as non-ITU always, like many mediaplayers do, even incorrectly when it should be set to ITU?
EDIT: Thanks 'yetanotherid'. Oops, I should've read manolo's sticky-thread "Resolutions, Aspect Ratios And The ITU-R BT.601 Standard"... Last edited by Forteen88; 29th December 2010 at 23:15. |

By default it does. I guess to try to save you from yourself. You can force ITU by going into the hidden options (CRTL+F9).
I've done quite a few comparison encodes in the past (or I'll use the preview function to compare the two) and most of the time I've guessed the DVD didn't use the ITU resize method. Recently I've confirmed this (assuming BluRay aspect ratio tends to be correct) by comparing new encodes taken from BR with old DVD encodes. So far (and admittedly I haven't compared hundreds) I'd be willing to bet very few of them do. To date I've only found two which I should have resized using the ITU method, the rest were pretty much identical to the BR encoded version. |
