next generation Windows

I am wondering about the new generation of Windows. As a third world person, I am curious how expensive the new Windows will be for future programmers and users. Windows for Business. So will the others be forced to log in to the Microsoft cloud to log in? Will the user need internet to pay for Windows?
I have an old computer. What class of computer will be recommended for the next generation of Windows? Will my activities and data on Windows itself be collected in huge database?

IMO, I think it is irritating that Microsoft every time it launches a new product, to attract attention, brings "improvements" that what they do is bring problems to users, then protests come, that if you have to re-age the button startup, etc. History will repeat itself, they said that W 10 was going to be the last Windows but business is business, they will say, today we will add an X, tomorrow a .number and so on...

Nobody is forced to get the new windows if nobody wants it.
One of my computers stil runs W98SE and feel happy - it's the music computer. The video computer still runs XP, the tablet w2k.

Funny is that people always complain about the new version of windows and praise the older - people that praise todays XP probably cursed it in 2001 and claimed w2k was the best. Probably w10 will also get some laurels in 10 years from now

As far as I am concerned, Windows 2000 has yet to be beaten.

You say that, but a lot of people ended up with Windows 10 when they weren't expecting it. Microsoft didn't exactly go out of their way to get user consent for that upgrade.

Windows has been getting worse for a VERY long time.

Windows 1.0 through 2000 were usable right out of the box with no adjustments whatsoever.

WinXP required about 2 minutes of minor tweaking to be usable (going back to win95-style start menu etc.)

Vista required significantly more tweaking to be usable (disabling UAC, taking ownership of the "Program Files" directory etc.) but could still be made usable with no third-party software.

Win7 required not only the same amount of tweaking as Vista, but also the third-party (but FOSS) program Classic Shell.

Win10 has been out for 6 years and the arseholes at the Win Classic boards are still trying to figure out how to make it usable. The best bet seems to be a third-party, paid, closed-source program called Windowblinds (in addition to Classic Shell and the aforementioned amount of tweaking).

"Windows 11 AM" is going to be anal rape.

microsoft no longer puts much effort into consumer software, their main source of income is now cloud computing and productivity stuff, that kinda explains why recent versions of windows totally suck.

I totally agree.
They've been much more focused on stuff like Azure, Office 365 with its cloud services etc that they barely worked on Windows. It's funny though how Microsoft said that Windows 10 was going to be their last OS in 2015 only to be like "oh, we changed our minds" 6 years later...

win10 is basically longhorn 2.0, a junk pile of half cooked ideas and inconsistencies everywhere. this "next generation" is apparently longhorn reset 2.0, it seems they had not learned their lesson after all these years

I'm sure that next gen windows will be every bit as good as Windows 10.

MS has simply no clue what to do next. Lack of ideas and innovation.
Win10 is some strange mix of old crap and new (not always good) ideas. At least it's fairly stable (unless you get an auto update which breaks everything )

The very best and most sensible thing M$ could do next is to fix all of the problems in W10.
Windows is not the latest app, it is [an OS] supposed to provide a stable common code interface to service
other software, not to replace other software, and ideally not constantly changing.
Fix all of the bugs and remove the spyware, that would make me happy
[we dont not need no new features that dont work well, the we got oodles that dont work well already].

EDIT: I tried to find a clip of billionaire media mogul [Jonathan Pryce], in [James bond] "Tomorrow Never Dies",
being told, somthing like
Quote:
Our new software is riddled with bugs, users will be forced to upgrade for years to come.
and the billionaire Pryce character say something like "Good", or maybe "Execllent!" [EDIT: Actually "Outstanding!"].
[There's a message or comment in there somewhere]

Alan: "Given the prices that we charge to students, schools:
What sort of improvements have we made in Flynn... I mean Encom OS 12 ?
Encom CEO: "This year we put a "12" on the box." (Laughter from his crowd)

The character was joking, of course. The Dillinger guy then explains that they actually made a bunch of stability and security improvements.

I f**king love that movie.

If it's free, they'll likely use it as a marketing platform to cram services down our throats.

Yeah, like they've done with the stupid weather widget I've got in the last Windows 10 update...
The worse part is that they turned it on by default...
