ASBL has been a serious pain in the butt for years on my C8, however I never wanted to risk the warranty since I paid for an extended package and could actually get a store credit for that amount ($380 CDN) if I never use it. Major selling point for the store I bought it from since it was still the cheapest place to buy the TV (BestBuy was the same price). It has now been 4 years and I have cashed in that credit (My brother bought an $800 AVR for $420!!). So, it was finally time to try and turn that ASBL off! I have no service remote, and all the apps I could find for my Android phone (with IR blaster) were behind a paywall... argh! But I stumbled upon a way to get IN-START sent to the TV for free!
After trying to edit existing free remote buttons to send the IN-START command and banging up against walls, I downloaded irplus - Infrared Remote from the Play store and discovered that it used WINLIRC_NEC1 codes! I had found a site with all kinds of codes and remotes to access the service menu, and one of the sections was LIRC/WINLIRC, so I loaded up some generic LG "Full TV Remote" picked the "1" button and edited it to the IN-START code instead of 1... and boom it worked! Here is the WINLIRC_NEC1 code that sends IN-START to the TV: 0x20DF 0xDF20 One nice thing about this way of doing it, there is zero chance of hitting IN-STOP since the remote doesn't even have it on it Anyway, I just thought I would share for anyone looking to do this totally for free. QB

I did see that in my hunt, but it seemed overly complicated and I wanted something simple to use with my phone... I have even further simplified things since my post. I created my own "service" remote with irplus. It has just TWO buttons, IN-START & EZ ADJUST
https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ara2e8ZE4hsjjMJT...3CUAQ?e=zrYiFJ irplus - Infrared Remote is a pretty cool app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...hl=en_CA&gl=US QB

Is there a way to get older LG software versions (for my OLED65B8)? On the LG page (https://www.lg.com/uk/support/produc...s-OLED65B8PLA/), there is only 05.50.15 available.
I upgraded via USB stick from 05.40.09 to 05.50.15. Now RGB Full 10bit is not working anymore with my RTX 3080 -> no picture on TV. Only YCbCr 8bit is working. RGB Full 10bit was definitely working with 05.40.09. |

I'm experimenting on the 100 and 120 refresh rates. I noticed that the image aspect ratio changes. What would be a good configuration such that aspect ratio remains the same

Longtime lurker here. With how quiet this thread has been lately, I'm curious if others are still using MadVR with their LG OLEDs, or if most have moved on. Have the native HDR tonemapping algorithms on newer TVs become good enough on their own? I'm still happily rocking a B8 with MadVR doing HDR to HDR tonemapping, but with the Plex for HTPC application apparently adding support for HDR switching on Windows, I'm tempted to try that instead.

I strongly hope things will be finalized for HDR and that a stable version will be released for PC. It will probably be monetized somehow and if the price is reasonable I will definitely buy it. If it's sold subscribtion-based... not so sure, but for continued development it might work. In that case I would expect further developments, though.
