sound meter for 71

hello..
I wonder If someone could point me in the right direction...

I watch TV through my PC with a TBS tuner card..
then through my Denon AVR amp ..then out through my 7.1 setup.. without problems...

As Only some of the tv HD channels transmit in 5. 1.. what I'd like... is to be able to see at a glance...
when they are working in 5.1 .. so I can switch my Denon output from multi stereo to 7.1 output..

something like a small digital vu meter..
that I can just leave on the taskbar or desktop... like image below

I've done a lot of googling... but can't find anything..
any help would be appreciated...
thanks, konnie

ffdshow will tell you via a tooltip. You can install the raw audio processor without installing the codecs for decoding.
I have no idea if it's compatible with your system or media player. I run it as an external filter for MPC-HC, so it only runs when I use MPC-HC, and I'm running them both on XP.

Thanks guys for the replies..

Thanks guys for the replies..
Unfortunately neither are what I’m looking for .. Although the Digi check looked promising .. seems it needs their pci card or asio driver to work ..I don’t understand all that ..

Thanks for taking the trouble to upload the images ..
Presently I can tell when the tv channel is broadcasting in 5.1 by the tv channel software I use ..
but I need to see that it is working ..that it is actually going to all the channels..

A bit more info on my setup
:
Windows 10 pro
Tbs duel tv tuner pci card
Nvidia gtx 1050ti pci card (NVidia hd audio)
Sichbo pvr tv software
peace equalizer apo software
Denon avr-x3600h 7.1

Thanks again for your help Konnie..

When sending an audio bit-stream to your Denon AVR-X3600H, isn't it able to detect whether it's receiving a 2-channel or multi-channel bit-stream?
