OK, thanks. The web installer, it turns out, needs to be installed while logged onto an admin account. The user account can't be elevated for some strange reason, so I got it installed now.

Windows 7 only has DirectX 11 RTM on board, this is mostly backwards compatible right back to directx 1(excluding depreciated commands).
However Directx is being continually developed (9, 10, 10.1 and 11) and every 2-3 months all directx versions get an update in the form of a redist. that means that that redist in the link contains directx 9, 10, 10.1 and 11 updates.

This is very simple, Microsoft policy is to never distribute runtimes over windows updated except in some special exceptions.

does anyone else get tearing when Bicubic PS2 is enabled? if i enable Bilinear PS2 or any of the other two, my tearing disappears. would it be possible to add a PS3 version of the bicubic renderer?

I too have rather poor performance with the EVR-CP bicubic scaler (namaiki knows this ). I don't have the same issue with the bicubic scaler in Haali's renderer. I've been told in another forum (by an anonymous poster) that Haali's scaler is mathematically incorrect and this gives it better performance. Maybe tetsuo55 or someone else can illuminate this matter?

could this have something to do with it?

http://www.ostrogothia.com/?p=1444

when i was testing shaders out, i noticed that the denoise shader runs faster if i use ps_3_0_sw instead of ps_3_0. maybe if that were applied to the resizing as well...

Do you get tearing when you'e not using denoise? IIRC that is a bit of a power cruncher. btw sw = cpu being used instead of GPU?

i don't use denoise. i do get tearing with bilinear+denoise but without denoise, i don't. when i enable only bicubic, i get tearing.

and yes, sw = software.

Try default renderer settings + wait for flushes.
If you are not using aero, then also + alternate vsync.

using alt vsync + wait for flushes eliminates the tearing

We could really use someone, to:

-Rewrite the shader base code to be shader version independent (will use the highest shader version available)
-Add shader calculation time overhead to the statistics

Happy New Year to all

I noticed in the Playback section lacks the function exit at the end of reproduction or the one that returns to the main logo MPCHC

This function is useful when the player is integrated into multimedia interface such as MediaPortal, MedioOs, etc....

Thanks

Create a batch file (*.bat or *.cmd). Paste this:
Code:
@echo off
rem bobdynlan: Add parameters to be run everytime you open some of MPC-HC's filetypes
rem Requires you to set Options-Formats-Video association in MPC-HC before this
rem customize below
SET parameters=/play /close
SET filetypes=AVI WMV WMP WM ASF SMK BIK SWF ROQ RT RP SMI SMIL RM RAM RPM RMM RATDVD MOV HDMOV 3G2 3GP2 DIVX VP6 RMVB AMV TTA AMR OGM OGV MP4 M4V MP4V MPV4 3GP 3GPP MPG MPEG MPE M1V M2V MPV2 MP2V TS TP TPR PVA PSS M2TS M2T MTS EVO M2P MKV IVF FLI FLC FLIC FLV D2V VOB IFO
rem end customization
REG QUERY "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Clients\Media\Media Player Classic\Capabilities" /v "ApplicationIcon" /reg:64> %temp%\mpc_exe.bat
FOR /F "skip=2 tokens=* delims=" %%A IN (%temp%\mpc_exe.bat) DO SET mpc_exe=%%A > %temp%\mpc_exe.bat
call %temp%\mpc_exe.bat
set mpc_exe=%mpc_exe:~41,-4%
echo !%mpc_exe%!
DEL /Q %temp%\mpc_exe.bat
For %%X in (%filetypes%) do REG ADD "HKCR\mplayerc.%%X\shell\open\command" /ve /d "\"%mpc_exe%\" \"%%1\" %parameters%" /f /reg:64
cls
exit
Edit the line starting with "SET parameters" after the "=" sign with the required ones (/play /close...etc. more on Help->Command Line Switches). To revert, leave empty.

And since I posted again, after many requests to remember "Pan & scan settings", can the dev's make it at least a command line switch to apply the first/ second/ last/ some/ atleastone preset?
You cannot do more than simple things like Pos 0.5 0.5 Zoom 1.2500 1.3330, but it's useful as a compromise between scale and zoom. Warpscalling would have been soo...

You need to check that, play --> after playback --> exit, is checked, if you want that player closes after playback. It would be nice if it could stay permanently checked, so that there wouldn't be need to check it every time you play something.

Happy New Year everyone!

Hi! I have one question about screen capturing to .jpg - can I change settings of capturing and how can I know what quality it uses? and I tried to post into 'new features' but I can't - so it would be great if you'll add .jpg quality settings to options. (I use captured frames for Photoshop that's why I need the maximum quality)

Thanks.
