Thing is that each and every public build that has been posted, if asked for need to have source. Just read a bit on GPL. And no, i'm not trying to sound like an ass. It's not question of their public release it's this particular build that source needs to be shown to public.

Do you want to say, that the MPC-HC never violated the GPL?

But if someone requested source-code of those builds, MPC-HC's developers would happily provide them, methinks.

Well, who said that we do not provide your source code? In our every release, there's a complete copy of the source code at the time of issue.
All charges on the part of team members mpc-hc, it is no more than speculation, in order to reduce the attention to our software product. When they can't bypass the competitor technically, you can use other tools, for example, accused of any violations.

Most of those tickets has had their source code committed to our publicly accessible repo, so the source code is available there. And since the move to github we often distribute the source code of test builds through our own developer repositories. We're not perfect, but we try.

But the thing that bothers me in this case is that this thread is not a bug tracker. You are posting builds of your fork in our thread and you don't show the common courtesy of sharing the source code. If you don't want to share the source code of your test builds then don't post them in our thread, simple as that.

The problem is that if you make a change in one of the test builds that our users want to see integrated into MPC-HC we wouldn't be able to until you release a stable. That is exactly the kind of situation that GPL was made to prevent. We share our source code as much as possible and you often make use of that by integrating our changes before we release a stable, it'd only be fair we were allowed to do the same.

But I see you've opened access to the repository and I'm sure you'll commit any useful changes from the test builds there. I hope we can now start collaborating like forks are supposed to, share the knowledge so that both players can further improve upon each other.

I just installed VS2012. Is it possible to compile either of HC or BE with it?

We're going to switch to VS2012 before the next stable, there has already been quite some work on that part. So if all goes well we'll be switching as soon as possible.

If you'd like to try it now, there's a patch in docs/patches. Though I don't know if it's up to date.

Android does the same thing, they don't publish source code (including GPLv2'd kernel parts) until well after they release a stable.

They (Google) don't have to. They hold the rights to the code. They can even re-license it as they wish.

MPC-BE and MPC-HC both base their work on Gabest's GPL'd code, and thus cannot simply release a binary w/o source code (especially when asked for one).

Hi guys. MPC-HC have trouble with seeking in some MPEG-TS. Sample - http://aleksoid.voserver.net/Sample/...S.split.1.m2ts
After seek - playing start from the incorrect position.

Do not use "Skip all checks" in video decoder.

Feature Request 1:
Turn Non-Forced Subtitles off if same language as audio stream
I don't want to see subtitles except forced, e.g. when the aliens speak in Avatar.

Feature Request 2:
[S] subtitle enable/disable button on status / play bar

If running MPC-BE and you proceed to uninstall MPC-HC the uninstaller says MPC-HC is running, HC & BE should be able to be distinguished from each other.
