The primary reason I'm shopping around for GUIs is because I'm tired of trying to figure out why synth and its list of dependencies are randomly breaking under Windblows 7. :-P
That, and I hate dealing with scripts and typing drive paths and yadda-yadda. |

if you are talking about HDConvertoX, i cannot help you about that because i do not use HDCtX... RipBot264, AviDemux, StaxRip , HandBrake, VidCoder as i said before...
the only one i have used and do not require anything else is HandBrake (VidCoder GUI alternative), but if you need avisynth filters then you will have to deal with scripts... it's kind of 'basic' rule... |

The filters aren't out-of-date -- what's out-of-date is the depressing lack of filter options in most install-and-run GUI tools.
I.e., both Handbrake and Aviddemux have a denoise option, but nothing for grain....which is really retarded when you think about it. |

Conversion of chapters and Subtitles
Hi there,
for those guys out there like me that convert the 25 fps of PAL-DVDs to 23.976 fps with subtitles and chapters in a mkv ( and like to use hdconverttox for it): I didn't notice any support to change the framerate of the chapters and the subtitles. If you mux subtiles and chapters with hdconverttox after slowdown they'll be out of sync. To adjust both files i wrote two little programs in autoit3 - usage: chapconvert <file> <sourcefps> <destfps>, for example chapconvert chapters.txt 25 23.976 will convert the chapters.txt in the jobx folder from original 25 fps to 23.976. Similar the idxconvert.exe: idxconvert.exe <file> <sourcefps> <destfps>, for example idxconvert.exe hdc_subs.idx 25 23.976 will convert the hdc_subs.idx in the jobx folder of hdconverttox from 25 fps to 23.976. After these conversions are done and you mux the final file the chapters and subtitles are in sync again... Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?qgxr567y5dh69w5 |

Thanks MvB. I'm still using this great tool and it still gives vastly superior Xvid/Mp4 quality encodings compared to Handbrake or AviDemux which are both good. Only Staxrip matches HDConverttoX for quality in my subjective opinion, but it is not as stable as Buzz's software tool for me. The filter package by Buzzqw is very good especially for newbies. Most work, a few don't sometimes, but hell you use the ones you like or work for you in your setup/system. The degrain are great too. I hope Buzzqw is doing fine and if he chooses to recontinue developing this fine piece of software or post bug fix updates I look forward to it as we all should!

Hi,
I have been running HDConvertToX for a while and it has been working great. However a couple of days ago I got a "blue screen" while converting and since then I get the error pop'up "Unable to compute correct Aspect Ratio". This pops up when doing the initial analyze of a movie in HDConvertToX. I'm running Windows 7 and I have tried to re-install everything following the same guide as I followed when I installed it the first time: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1318934#post1318934 I have used latest versions. Does anyone know what suddenly went wrong? Any solutions? Please help! |

Instead you could add a script in the Advanced Options Tab, or manually edit the hdconverttox_.... .avs script in the working (i.e. job..) folder. You should check the generated script anyway and make sure that the deinterlacing is placed before any resizing. It's a pity that buzzqw has left the forum |

A reported bug from Videohelp: There is a bug in HDConvertToX, even after selecting "none" for De-interlace Filters, it still does not put --tff (or --bff) on the X264 command line, you have to insert it manually. With updated GUI is it still seen with those who regularly encode x264?
Also inserting Shutdown in "queue", etc using "Add" does not work. Thanks. Last edited by datauser; 25th June 2013 at 18:05. |
