Mvbob > mcbob?
with my last test, I've found that mvbob with my dv record it's very better than mcbob. I know that mcbob should be better, and I want to know why with my config mcbob doesn't work as well.
My config is: avisynth dll= 2.5.7.0 mvtool= 1.7.0.0 masktool=2.0a30 mcbob function is= mcbob This is an image with the mvbob and mcbob (mvbob is the upper image) The script I've used is: Code:
avisource("F:\yadif.avi") converttoYv12() AssumeBFF() mvbob() # or mcbob lanczosresize(720,400) Thanks for the answer. |

Could be it's just too much noise. Looking at the background of the MVBob picture, there is no sign of MVBob's "dithering-denoise" side-effect, but lots of vertical spatial interpolation. Could well be that in most areas you're infact not getting any motion compensated bobbing, but just plain EEDI-bobbing ...
Funnily, both look very similar in respect to the deinterlacing result. It's just that MCBob is much sharper (too much in this case), and so is the noise. Try MCBob(sharpness=0.0) and compare again. Probably the results will become rather equal, then. Fact is that MCBob won't deal too well with such noise as can be seen here. That would require the not-yet-existing internal denoising routine. Edit: BTW, there is >>avisource("F:\yadif.avi")<< ... is it really the raw source you're feeding, or has there been some pre-processing with yadif() ?

Now I'll try MCBob(sharpness=0.0), and post the result Quote:

Interesting. Looks like something is not working like it's supposed to be.
Could you make a few frames of that recording available?

That would be fully sufficient, yes. The indoor scene seems particularily useful for testing.

I got the sample, thank you. I'll look into it this WE, right now I'm too busy with other things. Analyzing both MVBob and MCBob is not done in five minutes, I need some free air to dive into it.

I always use MVBob on noisy footage. It somehow naturally denoises it. It's not something Scharfi did on purpose, but I like it. It's also a heck of alot faster.
MCBob really works well on sports footage with lines at weird angles. Really smooths them out especially if the footage is clean.

I'm vey boring, i know, but i want to know if with my dv rec I have to use mvbob instead of mcbob...... With my pal mpeg rec from satellite, mcbob work excellent, and I use only him in avisynth deinterlacing.
I've some beautifull rec that I have compress with x264, but ....... The possibility to make better.... Emm, I want more!!! I've upgraded with the 1.8.3 mvtool, but mcbob seem to deinterlace not well. Didee, write me that you had created an mcbob specifically for dv source!!! |

>> I've upgraded with the 1.8.3 mvtool, but mcbob seem to deinterlace not well.
Can't tell how it works together with MVTools v1.8.3. Perhaps it would need some adjustments to play together with the new features ... or not. can't tell yet, didn't try it. >> write me that you had created an mcbob specifically for dv source!!! Nope. My motivation currently is evanescent.
