Slow playback with HD (x264) content in MediaPortal but not in other players
Hi,
I'm sorry if this isn't the correct forum for this topic but I couldn't find one that would fit better for my problem. My computer is brand new and the parts were selected with an HTPC in mind. Although my computer can perform DXVA just fine with the nVidia GeForce 8300 IGPU I don't want to use it because there's still a few problems with subtitles. Which means I'm using CoreAVC to have the best playback possible. For audio decoding, I'm using ffdshow and for subtitles, vsfilter. I have CCCP installed for this with H.264/AVC disabled in CCCP/ffdshow so that CoreAVC is used. MediaPortal is the software I'm using as Media Center and it's great, the only problem (which is critical) is that it doesn't play HD content as smooth as it should and movies are not watchable. I can't figure it out why this is happening because the same exact movies play just fine in Windows Media Player, Media Player Classic Homecinema and Zoom Player, haven't tested any other. I used GraphStudio to see if there were any differences but there ain't much: MediaPortal: Render Media File: The only difference I see is on the video renderer, MP uses EVR and the other one VMR. The thing that says "0002" is VSFilter (DirectVobSub) and the one that says "inf-jttcote.mkv" is actually Haali. I wasn't able to load any graph from MPC-HC for some reason... I just did more testing but can't seem to relate the problem to anything... I downloaded 12 mkv x264 movie samples, 6 at 720p and 6 others at 1080p, all from different movies. Then I tested all of them at 1920x1080x32@50 and 1280x720x32@50 and here's what I found out: 1920x1080x32@50 [1080p] Death Race: OK [1080p] Jarhead: OK [1080p] Planet Terror: OK [1080p] Sin City: NOT OK [1080p] Stargate: The Ark of Truth: OK [720p] 3.10 To Yuma: OK [720p] Fight Club: OK [720p] Ice Age 2: OK [720p] King Kong: OK [720p] Saw V: OK [720p] The Chronicles of Riddick: NOT OK 1280x720x32@50 [1080p] Death Race: OK [1080p] Jarhead: OK [1080p] Planet Terror: OK [1080p] Sin City: OK [1080p] Stargate: The Ark of Truth: OK [720p] 3.10 To Yuma: OK [720p] Fight Club: OK [720p] Ice Age 2: OK [720p] King Kong: OK [720p] Saw V: OK [720p] The Chronicles of Riddick: OK Seeing that the problems were only visible at 1920x1080x32@50 I decided to try the same resolution but with 24Hz but the results were exactly the same. Does anyone has any hints on what might be the cause of the problem? |
