Need a H.264 Decoder (DXVA) that properly decodes movies
![]() I think the picture above is self explanatory. That picture corruption always occur when default MPC-HC decoder is used. And many times, movies also get blocky and pixelated. Another DXVA decoder I had tried was Microsoft DTV-DVD video decoder which produces picture as good as FFMPEG. However, the downside is it sometimes fails to play anamorphic videos in their proper ratios. I know that I can always use FFMPEG or FFDSHOW software decoder but seek time is really slow on my old laptop. Also, some HD movies can use 100% cpu and things go very sluggish. |

I afraid I could not use that since I do not have Nvidia GPU.
It's Intel GMA 4500MHD with latest driver (8.15.10.1986). From what I've read this GPU supposed to be fairly good in video decoding (correct me if I'm wrong). |

![]() Anyway, it says on homepage that Di-AVC is a software decoder, it's probably not DXVA compatible. Quote:
I'm not really certain on what caused this picture corruption. I suspect MPC-HC decoder is at fault because another DXVA decoder (Microsoft's) works just fine (except aspect ratio issue). |

I installed PowerDVD trial version but couldn't find its H.264 decoder to use with MPC-HC. I can use its MPEG-2 decoder though.
How can I get it from Arcsoft? They do not offer video decoder for download. Is it bundled within some of their softwares, if so, which one should I download: ShowBiz, TotalMedia, or something else? |

@ mk.2 - "Avast" - find your problem here, report false positive
![]() diavc.ax is decoder and this file you only need DiAVCSetting.exe is program to change decoder merit and register it to system... PowerDVD is not good, it dont play many files, DxVA as I remember didnt work propetly with some files causing black screen... of course in the latest version that connect to MPC-HC... dunno about ArcSoft, but probably the same Can someone know maybe the latest version (link to pack, cause I will extract decoder with Universal Extractor will be usefull) ? Because I want to try some new tests ![]() |

(I got reply from the Avira AntiVir developers. They said it's a FALSE POSITIVE and that it will be fixed in the next signature update. You should do the same: Report the problem to Avast) BTW: Was the DivX H.264 decoder mentioned in this thread? It's free and it's definitely fast!

I found trial version of TMT 2. The program itself does not work well with W7 but its decoder works fine. There's no corruption or any visible pixelation. However, Arcsoft's decoder suffers the same problem as Microsoft's decoder; wrong ratio in anamorphic videos, which I later found out that actually caused by MPC-HC internal MKV splitter. I installed Haali Media Splitter and problems solved. Now I can use either Microsoft's or Arcsoft's decoder without ratio problem . Beside both of these decoders can decode MPEG-2 using DXVA as well (though I don't need it).
