Oppo UDP-203/205: Can not confirm. I tried and had no success.
But I will repeat that sooner or later.

Thanks for that info, I had read somewhere that mkv didn't carry it..

The app I used to encode only output's x265 as an .mkv , I might have to run it thru DDVT to convert to mp4. Is there another way ??

Interesting side note, the couple of DV test samples I downloaded for an LG TV, where .ts files...(they display the Dolby Vision banner).

Cheers

DDVT_MKVTOMP4 is probably your best bet, it uses FFmpeg under the hood but is a lot more intuitive.

Since DV is proprietary there is currently no (free) way of doing this.

I don't condone piracy but if you have bought a DV Blu-ray, especially if it's of a newer film, you can probably find a WEB-DL release of that film with HDR10+ metadata (look at the MediaInfo). Demux that metadata from the WEB-DL source and inject it into the Blu-ray file, just make sure the metadata frame numbers are aligned with the film (they're usually not, you have to look at the scene cut frame numbers and their corresponding value in the metadata to figure out how much (positive or negative) delay to use).

I will definitely give that a try, once I've done a bit more homework with the actual encoding side of things..got lots of different settings to try

Simply use DDVT_DEMUXER. If you open a DV P8 with the Demuxer, you have a "CHECK RELEASE" option. With this option you can fix bad borders.

So if you can't guess which one is the clip's plays & displays the Dolby Vision logo in the top right corner of the screen, it's the bottom one.

Surely there has to be a way to "transform" this :-

Code:
Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.08.06, BL+RPU, HDR10 compatible / SMPTE ST 2094 App 4, Version 1, HDR10+ Profile B compatible
which falls back to HDR10 on playback.

to this, which DOES display Dolby Vision on playback :-

Quote:
Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.04.06, BL+EL+RPU
If DDVT could remove that HDR10 compatibility "function", I think the job's done

What do you think, is that something that could be done ??

Apologies if this has been explained before

I don't know why I have to repeat this but .mkv files don't trigger Dolby Vision on LG TVs, but .mp4, .ts, and .m2ts do. Converting the Rings of Power file to .mp4 will only take minutes even on a laptop (don't pirate BTW). It almost certainly has nothing to do with the DV profile or HDR10 backwards compatibility.

I look forward to -QfG-'s response, but as far as I know, the answer is no. In dovi_tool (which is the backbone of DDVT) conversion to Profile 4 is not possible. I encourage you to read up on HDR10 and Dolby Vision Profiles and Levels, that should clarify a lot of things.

Essentially, Matroska will need to develop an entirely new file parser to handle Dolby Vision.mkv muxes as the current parser (built into all our televisions and many other playback devices) doesn't understand them!

Well, you won't have to repeat yourself again (hopefully)

I am VERY, VERY new to this process, so don't be too harsh

I have learnt that LG's DO only work off the format's you mentioned, I have converted a couple of the "hybrid" types to .mp4, but instead of test playing them on the LG, I check the MediaInfo, and see the HDR Format is still unchanged, so I don't bother to go any further, and what confuses me more is the MediaInfo of the LG DV test file (despite it's low DV Profile).

So if I convert these .mkv's to .mp4 with DDVT, regardless of the HDR Format, if' it's .mp4 it should play & display the Dolby Vision logo on the LG TV...

I will definitely go that one more step after the conversion, to do a test play.

Thanks & sorry.

UPDATE
:-

I just converted this one to .mp4 using DDVT, and guess what, it still plays in HDR10

I have both an HDR and DV file. DV has more bitrate than HDR, but frames, length are the same, same source.

Can anyone tell me how to put the HDR metadata into the DV file with bigger bitrate to make a hybrid?

Very exotic DV Profile. Recommended to convert this to profile 8 (BL+RPU) for maximum compatibility.

You cannot Change Profile 4/7/8 to Profile 5, because the BL Colorspace of P5 is BT.2100 and P8 BT.2020.

Remove HDR10+ Metadata with the remover. Some HDR10+ files dosn't work correctly (No Solution yet)

Why using h265 level 6.2 instead of 5.1@High?

I just cracked it, I simply (after days of fiddling) used tsmuxer, remuxed to .m2ts file, and it's displaying Dolby Vision the LG TV.

Nice that m2ts works correctly with HDR10+ Profile B Metadata. I know that any files with included HDR10+ metadata in mp4/mkv container will not work correctly.
But i never found out why, some files works other not.

Yes, I'm pretty happy that it worked...I just happened to stumble onto a thread ,(somewhere)..this guy said he'd tried everything, almost gave up, then tried good old tsmuxer......and he had an LG TV as well.

Is this something that could be incorporated into DDVT ?

So for my next stupid question(s)..

I'm sure this has been asked here or somewhere a LOT, but is there a way to convert HDR10 to HDR10+, and then use that "new" HDR10+ to create a Hybrid DV video ??

Also, are there any plans to have all the DDVT options as Drag 'n' Drop (like the new Hybrid option) ??, makes it SO much easier

Question about the Hybrid option, it asks for a HDR & DV file ???

What's that about ??
