i noticed above a few of you posted asking for this to be in a database.

i can create a mySQL database of the above results and have it generate a web page with the results.. users could add new items and the database/webpage would be updated automatically.

would this be of use to anyone. if i get a few people i will spend the time to create the php script to do it..

dvd-r media

Brand: [Bulkpaq] Type: [DVD-R for data storage] Format: [DVD-R] Max Write Speed: [x1] Price: [30 free with Pioneer DVR 104-A04] DVD Burner: [as above] DVD Burning Software: Nero 5.5.9/Prassi Prismo/VobInstant CD-DVD Compatibilty : Pioneer DVR104 / Sony DVP-NS305 [worked in both]!! Additional Notes : These DVD-R's would not play in any of my mates PS2 and LG stand alone DVD players do not like either. I find Nero the best burning software , Prassi came with Pioneer 104 but have never found it to do anywhere near as much as Nero. Tried VobInstant CD/DVD 6.0 and 6.5 demo verions as suggested by IfoEdit http://mpucoder.kewlhair.com/derrow/index.html but I couldn't even get it to burn .vob , .bup etc Using Smartripper 2.41 then Nero 5.5.9 I can rip & burn a DVD [under 4.7GB] straight off... absolutely no problems playing in my Sony 305

Brand: [Fuji, Memorex, TDK & Verbatim for +R HP & Verbatim for +RW]
Type: [DVD-R for Video DVD+RW for Backup and Video Testing]
Format: [DVD+RW]
Max write speed: [2.4x]
Unit price: [When I first got my burner(July) it was about $4 for +R and $7-8 for +RW. Now it is about $2 for +R and $4-5 for +RW if I look around and wait for sale.]
Retailer: [Best Buy, CompUSA, Micro Center, and OfficeMax]
ADVDInfo Lead In (0E): ???

DVD Burner: [Sony DVD+RW DRU120A]
DVD burning software: [Nero 5.5.8.5, although the drive comes with Bs Recorder]

Compatibility: I have a Pioneer DV-C503 and a PS2. The Pioneer has never failed to play either a +R or +RW that played in another DVD player. The PS2 has played all +R but only 50% of +RW. I had one bad Fuji and TDK each. Also had one bad Memorex, but I think that was my fault. The +RW that came with the drive failed. It got too scratched from going to PC to DVD. All other +RW work fine.

Stay clear of K Hypermedia!

Brand: [TKD]
Type: [DVD-R for data storage]

Unit price: [$5.99]

DVD Burner: [Pioneer A105 4X]
DVD burning software: [Nero 5.5.10.0]

Compatibility: [I've tried it in my Apex DVD set top from Wal Mart and they work great, Media actually reads a bit faster than 4X but for reliability it only burns at 2X.]

Brand: [Maxell]
Type: [DVD-R for data storage]
Format: [DVD-R]
Max write speed: [2x]
Unit price: [$19.95 /5 pack]
Retailer: [Staples]

DVD Burner: [Pioneer A105 4X]
DVD burning software: [Nero 5.5.10.0]
Compatibility: [I've tried these in my Toshiba PC player and in the Apex set top player and plays very nice all the way through. No skips no problems.]

Brand: [K Hypermedia (taiwan)]
Type: [DVD-R for General Use]
Format: [DVD-R]
Max write speed: [1x]
Unit price: [$14.99 per 10... the most expensive DVD's I've ever bought!]
Retailer: [Office Max]

DVD Burner: [PioneerA105 4X]
DVD burning software: [Nero 5.5.10.0] )

Compatibility: [I've used these in my PC (which sometimes work, and in the set top DVD player an APEX from Wal Mart and works at the beginning, but at the end starts to become misserably skipped and corrupted. At $1.49 each these are the very most expensive DVD -R media you can buy. If you figure your time worth anything, then at 1 X burn time and disc that are NG.. make them really NO bargin.

I've also noticed that in Nero, that I burn in UDF mode and works great, but not in UDF/IFO mode. latter... doesn't work.

Cheers!

GREAT discs. Only problems are when I screw up the file system or turn the computer off by mistake in mid burn.

Memorex discs are junk and will simply not burn in my Sony DRU-500A.

Brand: Maxell(+R), Verbatim(+R)
Speed: Both 2.4X
Retailer: Sam's Club
Prices: $17.99/10PK Maxwell, $23.99/12PK Verbatim (both with case)
Burner: Sony DRU-500A
Softwares: RecordNow MAX, Nero 5.5.10.7b
Results: all playable in Sony DVP-S330, Sony DAV-S300, Mintek 1600 (Nero has to be 5.5.10.7b, had problem with 5.5.10)

I was surprised Sam's has such name brand discs with such cheap prices than on-line stores, and even come with cases. Bought 2 10PK and 3 12PK to try out and they are perfect, gonna buy more this weekend.

I tested a couple of smart buy 2x DVD-R discs on my Pioneer A05 burner with the latest firmware to date (06.03.2003).

Burned the discs in recordnow max 4.5 at 2x. So far so good.

Brand: [Traxdata]
Type: [DVD-R R4.7]
Format: [DVD-R]
Max Write Speed: [X2]
Unit Price: [£34 for 25]
Retailer: [www.blankdiscshop.co.uk]

DVD Burner: [Pioneer a04/104 w/ firmware 1.31]
DVD Burning Software: [Nero 5.5.9.9 + SVCD plug-in]

Compatibility: [Sony DVP-NS305 & Mirror DVD Player]

Additional Notes: These DVD-R's only burn @ X2 under the Pioneera04 with the firmware 1.31 ... but when burning anything as long as Black Hawk Down,Star Wars - Phantom Menace they freeze up right towards the final chapters. Tested on X1 and there's no problem so I would suggest to ppl that these are a quality disc but dont be fooled into thinking that it is a good disc at speed.

Thanks - Bye
