Btw, I saw him posting this on the avs forum:

Quote:
Blight: i'm quite surprised. I just tried to play a DRM file (scooby doo 2 trailer) with reclock + WMP9, and to my big surprise reclock is able to use vsync tools with DRM content. I may sound uninteresting, but it means something very important : reclock can access all the video frames in unencrypted format

Indeed i could extend reclock to become a media "(re)encoder". Simply you take any player with any media you want (DVD, streamed media, DRM) , even put ffdshow to tweak or resize the picture if you want, and then reclock could be used as an encoding engine : it would let you choose the codec you want, would be able to reencode at a different framerate, etc ... It could even be used to make 2 pass encoding i believe.
Sounds nice

@oddball : i'm back on doom9 forums Sorry for the inconvenience. I'm aware of audio timestretch bad quality, and i'll probably try again soundtouch library for the next release.

@Orezza: i already know trimension. In fact its quite funny, because trimension was created by the very same philips engineers that creation "digital natural motion" for philips tv sets. I have one of those tv sets, and the reason i wrote reclock in the first place, is that the "trimension" algorithm in my tv was not making its job because of stutter. You can also find another software "motion perfect" that does the same thing as trimension but not in realtime. I think a trimension like algorithm in reclock would be indeed THE solution, but this is a patented software, and i've never been able to understand what is hidden behind and how it works exactly ...

@Mark Rejhon : thanks a lot for your donation I have made you a response on AVS about testing with Powerstrip API. For now, i have tried scanlines add/remove method, but as i was expecting it, my video card (a geforce 3) show artifacts when modifying the scanlines number. For example, if i modifying the scanline number, then wait a few scanlines, and modify scanline number to original values, i get artifacts (whole screen vibrating). Did you have a change to test on geforce cards ?

@clehner : i'm not sure it can work with version 4.0. You will have to switch to 5.0 ...

@Cyberace : i'm not against giving you the source code of reclock to understand how it works, provided you don't give away the source code. But i'm not sure it will help you to develop your xbox player. You said me that this player does not use directshow, but reclock heavily depends on directshow to work ...

@Bitmonster : could you activate logging and send me a logfile ?

I'm our of business for one week (vacation ) so don't expect any response for one week

I think Philips natural motion looks bad. It gives a kind of artificial look to the picture and it looks like all movies are shot on video. The motion looks more fluid, but it also looks like scenes move faster that they are supposed to.

PS! a few team devs have mentioned ideas about a implementing DirectShow framework for XBMC

I'm interested in what that dscaler dude is doing. His idea for realtime genlock sounds intriguing (If somewhat technical for me). Could this be used in ReClock at some later stage do you believe?

since Besweet now has the soundtouch option http://dspguru.doom9.org/soundtouch.html for files, theres yet another time stretching program to check. With so many people working on it, its just a matter of time of someone getting it done correctly.

@ogo

I'd like to ask again if there is any chance to get rid of that VMR9 renderless vsynch tearing? With VMR7 everything is ok even without reclock.

About Trimension there was an old thread
and at the last post there is a link to some papers of patented algorythms.

@ogo: I've tried to use reclock with pdvd4, but it doesn't start (I've enable logging, but no log files); any suggestion?
Thanks
Marco

Good answer, but "powerdvd buyed, and reclock set to use it" is another good answer.
bye

Actually "bought PowerDVD and set reclock to work with it" would be a good answer.

Well, I guess it doesn´t entirely fit in here, but since the symptons are similar to what ReClock cures, I´ll write.

I thought my system had that the timer were asynchronous, but as it turns out it rather was/is Windows default Video renderer. When I switched from "System Default" to "Old Renderer"(Media Player Classic, Options->Playback=>Output), the video ran smoothly.
