LoTR Extended to 1 Disk

Hello, I have read a lot of things on this forum and come across this sort of question but haven't been able to find a definitive answer to exactly what I am looking to do xD.

I have The Lord of the Rings Extended DVDs which come with the movie split over two DVD-9 disks. I would like to keep the menu from Disk 1 and be able to just select to play the disk, no other options are needed I just want to fancy intro movie and book animations. Then I would like for the DVD to play through all the way to the end of Disk 2. All of this would be on a single DVD-9. Is this possible? I am pretty new to DVD authoring and have been messing around in DVD-Shrink and DVDReMake quite a bit as well as PgcEdit. Hopefully somebody can help me, thanks a lot!

It's definitely possible, (don't know which tools to use, others may), but there's a reason the movie was split over two discs. If you cram it on one, quality will not be great.
