Splitting a DVD
I have a DVD with 2 old films on it. I want to convert it to *.avi (DivX) files. I have tried DVDecrypt to create an *.iso file and then FairUse Wizard but the resulatnt *.avi file only has the first film in it.
The original DVD has only 2 files on it (Audio_TS and Video_TS). I would love to be able to split this file into two *.avi files if this is possible. Thank you for your help. |

It might be missing your question, but you have ripped the vobs I see, I assume this contains both films? Why not convert to avi and then use cut feature of avidemux(or similar) to split avi into two films.

RE: flebber I assume these 4 or 5 VOB files contain both films. Double clicking the files yields nothing. How can I open these VOB files and check? The only way I know to convert to *.avi is to create an *.iso and use FairUse Wizrd. Sorry I am not familiar with avidemux. Now that I have some VOB files I don't know what to do with them?? Re:CWRO3 Yes I used IFO mode and I have a similiar screen to the one you showed, Mind showed a PGC1 and a PGC2 under VTS_02. Where do I go from here. Thanks Again . |

After you select and rip one PGC, rename the VIDEO_TS directory, otherwise ripping the second one will erase the first one. After you have them ripped, try AutoGK for encoding to AVI. |

Thanks for your reply.
Each of the PGC is 2:36:44. These are old British war movies and if this represents time I think it probably represents the combined lenght of both films. Assuming they were different times, how could I rip them separately? The output folder ends up with the 7 files I mentioned : VTS_02 Stream Information.txt VTS_02.0IFO VTS_02_1 VOB VTS_02_2 VOB VTS_02_3 VOB VTS_02_4 VOB VTS_02_5 VOB What do I do with them? Thanks again |

It may not be necessary to re-rip. If you did indeed rip both titles, you can extract them from the vobs using PGCdemux. However, since we don't know for sure that you did indeed rip both, this may not be the best solution.
Load your DVD into DVD Decrypter in IFO mode. Find the two "biggest" (aka longest) PGCs and rip them). I highly doubt that both of your movies are exactly the same length. They may be close, but not exactly 2:36:44. If you want, you can post a screenshot like CWR03, in which you expand all of the available PGC's, in case you are having trouble identifying which is which. |

Merlin7777 has a point, the two movies may be listed again in different VTS's. If you haven't already done this, right-click in the Input window and select Expand All and see if there are two more PGCs that each match the two separate movies. If that fails, check only the chapters that pertain to the separate movies, or as Merlin7777 suggested use PGCDemux.

#1 I would like to show you the Decrypter window but I don't know how to put that graphic on to this page. #2 I have expanded all with the following results: VTS_01 PGC 1 [00:00:25] VTS_02 PGC 1 [02:26:44] PGC 2 [02:26:44] VTS_03 PGC 1 [1:54:08] PGC 2 [1:54:08] I don't understand how to handle these PGC's. What program do I use? |
