ac3 help

Hey, I'm attempting to encode the Royal Tenembaums in xvid. I'm having trouble muxing in the AC3. I have read the faq. I tried all possible combinations of values in it, although to no avail. The problem I have is that it seems as if the sound is very out of sync with the movie with the 5.1 AC3 file. I got it from DVD2AVI. It's a 384kbs file, or so it says. I did a search and read somewhere someone was getting a weird file header for the AC3? Could this be my problem? If it is, how can I correct it. I tried muxing in the 2CH AC3 and that worked fine. Any suggestions? Edit: In the begining the sound is really messed up. It sounds like computer noise. No idea what's going on.

ditto

I'm having the same problem with this movie. The delay indicated by DVD2avi is well short of the actual delay. It seems almost 5 seconds off. Am I going to have to figure this out by trial and error?

I'll keep searching,
