FAQ by KnightOrc:
Q: What is the difference between Turbo, Ultra, Extreme settings?
A: The level of motion detection that the codec will use, Turbo is the least efficient but very fast,, then Ultra and then Extreme is the most efficient but the slowest.
Q: What is the difference between 1-pass, 2-pass, 3-pass and Quantizer?
A: 1-pass does a single pass, fast but bandwidth is not efficiently used. 2-pass does a first pass to detect where the most bits are needed and a second pass to encode using that information, efficient bandwidth use and better quality. 3-pass doesn't improve the quality significantly from 2-pass, only really used for production mastering. Quantizer uses a constant bitrate to encode...
Q: Can XviD4PSP rip subtitles from DVD?
A: Not yet, it is planned for the future.
Q: How can I encode my DVD to <format>?
A: If it is unencrypted (or you use a transparent decrypter like AnyDVD) then just use the DVD button to select the VOB file. If it is encrypted use DVD Shrink in re-author mode to save it to HDD (no-compression, select only the PGC and audio/subtitle tracks you will use) and use Open to select the VOB files. Do NOT use DVD Decrypter, it doesn't create the correct indexes.
Q: How do I copy my PSP videos to my PSP?
A: Go to the Save Folder tab, make sure you PSP is connected via USB, right-click the video and select "Copy/Move to PSP".
Q: Is XviD4PSP compatible with Vista?
A: Yes but need turn off UAC (Control Panel - UAC - X) and update DirectX to real worked version.
Q: Does XviD4PSP require Microsoft .Net Framework 3.0?
A: Yes, it currently will work on 3.0.
Q: Does XviD4PSP run on Windows 2000 or below?
A: Windows 2000 work only with old 4.115 version, WinME/98/SE are not known to work.
Q: Does XviD4PSP support multi-threading?
A: Yes.
Q: Can I donate anything to this project?
A: Click on the Donate button in the top menu.
Q: Can you add <format> support to XviD4PSP?
A: It depends on many things, like available encoders and the availability of the format's specifications. It also takes time to add and test a new format, so ask nicely and be patient.
Q: What is SBC?
A: Saturation, Brightness and Contrast. If your PSP videos suffer from the "red smear" you should set it to GhostBuster and make sure that ffdshow's Postprocessing has the Luminance box UNCHECKED. The Vivid increases the saturation without boosting the contrast and only slightly increasing the brightness, it will make the colors appear more intense.
Q: Will you ever add PMF as an output format?
A: No.
Q: How do I encode faster while maintaining video quality.
A: Use 1-pass simple 1024kbit , approx 4 times faster, the quality is almost the same as 768kbit 2-pass ultra but the file size will be about 25% larger.
