Unfortunately I think using the word 'mechanic' might suggest that your application can perform functions to a media stream other than providing information. In much the same way using the word(s) 'toolbox' does.... sorry Neo!
Have you had any more thoughts about adding 'elementary' stream reading. I like the fact that your tool can provide info about audio and video streams within say, an .mpg container but as yet it can provide info about the elementary (.m1v or .m2v) streams!
