It is unfortunate nothing much is going on with EVC. My brief test with xeve baseline, really did gets 40% reduction at the same VMAF score compared to x264.

I mean the latter. EVC Baseline is close to HEVC but with complexity of H.264 and patent free.

EVC Main Profile should be much more energy efficient. Although by the time it arrives I am not sure it matters.

I am also extremely interested in Baseline profile, not a Royalty Free codec but...
