in my very last test (w/a different source) these matrices produced 1st pass sizes roughly as 4.5 /...

your settings is suboptimal (imho) :
- use xvid 1.1
- don't use q1 unless u got heavy undersizing...

i know it wont help but ... i've found that latest bsplayer refuses to open my clips containig 2 aac audio tracks. msg: file error (???). these files played fine in earlier bsplayer. so ... imho...

maybe i'm wrong, but i've never needed vobsub...
maybe i'm wrong, but i've never needed vobsub (vsfilter) in mpc. i'm able to play all form of subs i just have without it (the 'vobsub' form too). maybe u just need to select it in the stream...

try to run the script in a player or in vd(m). this way u can prove that everything's ok on the avs side. build and check the script line by line if the source of error is not evident....
