Is your source really out of wack when viewed on a TV? If not, I would error on the side of fewer changes. Adjust things so you don't loose part of the signal (clipped on top or bottom) ......

You don't gain much by reducing the analog...
You don't gain much by reducing the analog bandwidth in the vertical direction. That would require less scan lines. If you reduce in the horz direction, you could fit more channels.

You should also look into the drivers that are available. I don't recall if you can swap drivers for the cards with the philips chips. Even if the cards have the same chips ... the drivers may not...
