Not sure exactly about what kind of computer you have but that sounds about right. Is the movie really 29.97fps or is it just film at 23.97fps? I ask because you may be spending extra time encoding...

Could this be skal's codec? Because he is the only XviD dev that I know of that is currently working on a H.264 codec and I know he has flirted with the idea of making it open source before.

Wrong. FAAD2 is used in Nero not FAAC. No FAAC code is used in Nero. Nero AAC is based on Ivan's Pystel encoder which Nero acquired along with Ivan's services several years ago now.
