DVD to box via RGB, box to TV via S-Video = no picture?
Hi guys. I've got a switch box with 4 inputs and an output. The idea is to connect the DVD player to that box and the box to the TV. The box I/O's to RCA, S-Video, and Component. The DVD player is connected to the box through the RGB component cable. The TV, however, does not support component input, so it's connected to the box via S-Video. For some reason, I get no picture. Why is that? It shouldn't matter what kind of signal is inputted into the box, so long as the box can receive it and pass it to the TV in a signal that the TV supports, right?
Thank you for your input. PS. The RCA connection works fine. |
Hi!
Is it a CONVERTER box , or simply a SWITCH box? |
It's simply a switch box that lets you switch between 4 inputs.

I think you should connect via S-Video (preferably directly). S-Video is plenty for an NTSC TV IMO... I LOL at how many people hook up their DVD players with RF modulators. ~MiSfit |
Uhm...

What is the brand and model number of the switch box?
|
The model # is PH 61150
|
Is the brand name a secret?
If it's as we've agreed, merely a switch box (NOT converting the signal), you'd have to go S-Video out to S-Video in, Component out to either Component in or Composite in |
It's a Philips. The model # is a clickable link.

You're going to have to use composite, or get a different DVD player (or TV). Properly converting component to S-Video would likely cost more than replacing either.
