View Full Version : LameACM v3.97 Beta-1 crashes (FIXED)

I just updated my LameACM codec from v3.97 Alpha-12 to Beta-1. Since that VirtualDub crashes each time I open the "Select Audio Compression" window. When I try to browse my Audio-Codecs in the Windows control-panel, then MMC.EXE crashes. Same happends with SNDREC32.EXE when I try to select an audio-codec :scared:

Never had any problems with Alpha-12, any ideas

This is the release I just installed:
LAME v3.97 Beta-1 (http://www.rarewares.org/dancer/dancer.php?f=42)

I use WinXP-Pro 5.1.2600

// EDIT

Problem fixed. See here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=711507#post711507)

Source code of the ACM interface did not changed between alpha12 and beta1, so this is likely to be a compilation problem.

Did you used two version produced by the same compiler with the same switches, or are they different?

Thanks for your reply. Don't know if I understand what You mean but I never compile myself, only downloaded alpha12 and beta1 from rarewares.org and install using the *.inf-file.

Hope this helps,
Olnima

P.S.: Maybe the Problem of "Mr. Rapid Teddybear" in this

http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=37011&st=25

thread has the same reason?

Same for me: I did not compile the source myself. I downloaded the compiled LameACM.acm and the LameACM.inf from RAREWARES.org. See the link I posted above! Seems like this release is broken, eh? Can somebody offer a compiled version of LameACM 3.97 Beta-1, which works???

Thanks...

Maybe the Problem of "Mr. Rapid Teddybear" in this thread has the same reason?

"I had a serious issue with the lame ACM from the 3.97b1 compile from RareWares. After installing it EAC, the software with my Bluethoot device and some other programs could no longer be opened. I got "Access violation" messages and such. When reverting to the 3.96.1 Lame ACM, all those issues was resolved. (Using XP sp2, BTW.)"

I think so!

Good news :D

Hi,

Yep, sorry for the inconvenience. I don't know what happened to that ACM build but I've rebuilt and uploaded again. I believe it should be OK now.

Thanks for the 'heads up'!! ;)

John

The problem has been fixed. Seems to work fine. Please re-download:

@John: it's more up to "us" to say "thank You", than for You to say Sorry! To all the people who helped L.A.M.E: BIG BIG THANK YOU for your great work!!!
