Hi jdobbs,
using latest Release Candaidate, each time I activate "Steal Space from extras", I get half the reduction I choose: 4.8% when I activate 10%, 25% when I activate 50%... Is it a known issue ?
Thanks for your hard work,
Pasqui.
PS: when do you expect to go final ?

Your post is not clear: what do you mean by "half the reduction", where those 4.8% and 25% figures came from?
If those are the figures from the RB log that appears under "Improvement from Steal Space" caption, then you are not understanding what this info is about:
During the Preparation phase RB calculates what is the average bitrate needed for ALL your video to fit into a DVD5. Afterwards, if you have selected "Steal Space" it reduces the bitrate of the Extras by the percentage you have selected, and uses the so generate space to increase the bitrate of the main movie, which is so "improved" by the percentage indicated in "Improvement ..."

You're confusing extra reduction with feature improvement. Here's an example:
1. Assume a disc consists of a main feature, menus, and extras.
2. The main feature is 70% of the overall space, the menus are 5%, and the extras are 25%.
3. Reducing the extras by 25% would recover a total of 6.25% of the complete space to be applied to the feature.
4. Adding the 6.25% of the total space to the existing feature would improve it by ~9% (giving it 9% more space).
The bottom line is that the Extras have less space to offer.
I've cleared up the last couple of bugs that I think are significant and should be releasing it shortly.
