Hi,
I have a movie which is on both sides of the dvd.
One side is Full Screen
the other has the same movie only it is widescreen.
I thought it would be nice to keep both on a dvd5 so I have them shrunk enough to fit on one disc. {{ I Used dvd Shrink }}
How do I go about creating this disc with a simple main menu that allows you to choose which version you would want to view ?
cheers

You will need to author a menu for you dvd. There are guides located in the guides section of the Doom9 site or you could do a search of the forum. There are simple methods as well as elaborate. You need to figure out what authoring software you have or want to aquire. Once you settle on that more specific answers will be more forthcoming.

@vectra1

Hi!

One method would be as follows:

1) Use DVDDecrypter v.3.54 (in "File" mode, from "Edit" dropdown menu, choose "Select ALL files", NOT "Select movie files) to rip each FULL side of the DVD to its own folder on your hard drive.

2) Then use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" to combine the two uncompressed, ripped "DVDs" to a new "DVD" on your hard drive - and easily create a menu. You can obtain a FULLY functional free 30 day trial version of this commercial program at:

www.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/tda.html

3) Then use DVDShrink to compress the "new" combined DVD to less than 4.37Gigs.

4) Then burn the "new" compressed/combined DVD to a DVD-R or DVD+R

I've never had that happen under these specific circumstances (or any other circumstances when using "TMPGEnc DVD Author"). I have no idea what in your setup may be causing this to happen...

hmm.
I will try uninstalling it and do a re-install. see if that will help.
cheers

OK,
I have tried reinstalling it several times and still the same..
Now it tells me that my trial period is over..
is there another program you could suggest that is as easy as this to use ?
cheers

By the way.
I have all of the Adobe products if any of those would do the job ?
ie. Encore 1.5.
And thanks for your patience and help ;)

Now it tells me that my trial period is over..

That was certainly a quick 30 days ;>}

Did you download this from the link I provided, or "elsewhere"?

Elsewhere.
I actually had it installed for sometime without using it :(

Depending upon the nature of "elsewhere", that might explain why the program didn't work properly for you...

@ vectra1
you may find this thread in the ifo/vob editors forum helpful: Join two DVDs with preserving original menues (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=96211)

oh, and while you are clicking on links, please also click on this one and re-read the forum rules, in particular rule 6:

@ jel
Cheers for the link.
As for rule 6
Don't worry. Even though I downloaded it elsewhere it was only the trial version, but I had frogotten it was there and now my trial has run out so even by re-installing it I get the same message that the trial is out.

I stumbled on this post after wrestling for a whole day with NeroVision Express 3 trying to do something similar to what the OP was trying to do. Namely, create some DVD's with three episodes on each of some shows and a simple menu.

Files were in XVid, converted to VOB with WinAvi . Then I tried to compress them with Nero Recode to fit on a disk with room for a menu. After that I added them to NVE 3 to add a menu and burn . Error after error after error with no end in sight. Not to mention nero having to analayze the files each time they are added. Very frustrating.

So today I scoured the forums for a solution. Most guides to adding a menu require the use of 3 or more programs copying template menus from another disk editing ifo's etc. Way to much work for me.

Following setarip_old's advice I downloaded tmpgenc dvd author and it did exactly everything I needed. Took a couple secs to realize I had to make a seperate track for each episode and making the menu took some fooling around but all in all a very pleasurable exp. DvDshrink is encoding as I type this and I am anxious to see the final product.

Just wanted to say thanks for the advice and hope it can help others looking to do the same thing.

edit:

I am having an audio sync problem with the finished product. Two out of the three episodes speech does not match with the image.

Any ideas?
