Another flag I don't understand is the "restricted (stops trick play)" flag present in the cells table of the PGCs. What is his meaning and usage? Mpucoder?

I found some posts that could give us some info on what that flag can do.

See "ID No. : 106041 " in this link (http://www.dvdforum.org/booksub/fvn006.htm).

Thanks, 2COOL. Very interesting.
So, if I understand correctly, setting the 'restricted' flag forces a pause at the end of each VOBU of the cell. Someone can confirm that?
Also, I think it's better to rename that flag 'VOBU still', as it's more understandable than 'restricted'.

Incidently, I've read in the same threads that the PGC Still Time cannot be used on sequential PGCs. Only on random or shuffle PGCs. Great to know. I will disable the flag when the PGC is sequential.

I just edited a still menu's cell time from 255 to 0 and checked the restricted flag. It acted like it had a still time of 255 also. If I selected my remote's Play, Chap skip, Chap Prev, Forward skip, and Forward back buttons, it would take my menu out of pause mode.

found this on mpucoders forum

Q.:
What exactly are the "Restricted" flags in the cell playback information tables for? And, what is "trick play?"

Mpucoder:
Trick play is anything other than 1x forward. If you are in a trick play mode, like fast forward, it will revert to 1x play when the restricted flag is encountered.

Hum! VOBU pause and 1x forward are not exactly the same concepts! So, the question is still open. What is this flag for?

r0lZ, it could have several uses, that wouldn't be very surprising! I guess some experimentation would answer that...

Like I have done. ;)

Yes, exactly, but I meant, some testing of the "trick play" thing...

This patent (http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PG01&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.html&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=%2220050100324%22.PGNR.&OS=DN/20050100324&RS=DN/20050100324) (look at line 0129) describes two bits in that byte. (actually 7, but I'm not concerned with the other 5 right now) Bit 5, which gives the byte a value of 32, is the restricted access flag. But bit 6 (64) is "the cell playback mode (e.g., movie or still)" bit.

Thanks, Mpucoder! Now, it's clear.

You should update your DVD Information site. Bit 6 is missing. And -of course- it is also missing in PgcEdit. ;)
