Hi!
A CRC error indicates that there's either a problem with the physical DVD (scratched, dirty, Peanut Butter and Jelly) - or "ARccOS" copy protection, that DVD Shrink cannot resolve. First, try cleaning the DVD. If DVD Shrink still generates this error:
Use DVD Decrypter v.3.54 to "rip" the DVD to your hard drive in "File" mode - and from the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "All files" (NOT "movie files").
Then use DVD Shrink v.3.2xxx to "Open files" (NOT "Open Disk")
If that doesn't do the trick, return it to the place of purchase in exchange for a NEW replacement...

If it's an ARccOS disk, even DVD Decrypter may not help. You might need DVD Fab Decrypter - available for free at www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

As of this date this is incorrect. If need be (typically for Region 2 "ARccOS"-protected DVDs only), DVD Decrypter can create and use a "PSL" file to properly decrypt the DVD...

And, from another forum, this is how to create and use a PSL file in conjunction with DVD Decrypter, should you need it:
1) Change the setting to ignore read errors and also set read error retries to zero.
2) Rip the DVD.
3) Save the log list.
4) Export the PSL file and save it.
5) Open up the PSL file in a text editor and keep the first row starting with '0:'.
6) The row that start with '1:' - insert the range that was reported in the log file as 'Failed to read sector'. Delete the rest of the rows.
7) Save the PSL file.
8) Import the PSL file you have edited.
9) Rip the DVD.

Nope it isn't. I was unable to rip Closer RC2 German with any of the RC2 psl files provided on the f orums. Only when I installed DVD43 AND used a psl it worked.

Didn't you try creating your own PSL file from your own DVD (and then use it in conjunction with DVD Decrypter v.3.54)?

I'm curious to know - How did you install a PSL under DVD43? Was it the commercial DVD43 or DVD43Free?

I didn't try my own cause I didn't want to cause my drive too much trouble. I installed DVD43Free and I could not rip it with Decrypter. Only when I used the RC2 file that I'd tried before that in conjunction with it I could rip it. IIRC I also posted that psl to the closer thread on Digital Video Forums.

Then I guess we'll never know for sure about your specific DVD...
As far as I know, at this juncture DVD Decrypter v.3.54 plus a specific PSL file, if need be, is still a viable ripping solution...
