Batch Encoding with DivX

I am having a hard time finding a reliable encoder which supports 'batch' encoding. I tried using DrDivx but there is a serious problem, when I increse the bitrate, (advanced settings), the batch mode fails to actually honor the setting I choose. (DrDivx works just fine using the same files in 'manual mode').

I also tried using SimpleDivX, but after I make the exact same modifications I would use with DivX or DrDivX, the program locks up and doesnt do anything. (it seems to work fine when I leave the defaults in place).

Does anyone know of another 'reliable' option I can try?

Thanks! Worked like a charm! I did not even know that VirtualDubMod had a batch processing function, (I guess I should have checked out what all those other buttons do :/) At any rate, now I can set up multiple jobs and take off for the weekend, and they'll be done when I get back, cool!

The thing is, I have been searching Videohelp and Doom9 for a 'guide' on how to do batch conversions to avi and only found the one link to SimpleDivX, (which needs more time for development to work out the bugs). Maybe you could write one using this method!

For testing purposes, I have just been converting 2 small XviD segments to DivX, but my ultimate goal was to be able to batch convert VOB files after using DVD2AVI-1.76 and VFAPIConv to create a psuedo avi file to facilitate the conversion, and it works great with this scenario too. (I first extract the audio from the VOB files and just use DivX to work on the video only). Then when thats finished I just remux the audio.

Is this method I am using as good as any other?

I like to use VirtualDubMod to set up my Avisynth scripts (built in editor 'Save & Refresh'), then I use either the job mode of VDubMod or another handy little program AVS2AVID. It's a GUI frontend to avs2avi.exe. It works pretty good. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the most speed without losing my current quality.

is virtualdubmod the best thing for batch encoding out there? what format must the input files be in? is vob ok?
