My dvd player (Philips DVD-737) doesn't play AVI files that are larger than one gigabyte (on whatever file system).
But my captured films from TV need higher bitrates, so I always have to split them in two parts.

Do you know a format (apart from DVD-Video) that allows bigger files on dvd players
OR
do you have a player that automatically detects splitted AVI files and puts them together?

my philips dvp642 automatically starts playing the next avi after the first one is done.

I think there's an interruption (loading screen) between the files?

What I meant is
- the second movie file begins with the last keyframe of the first file
- so they could be played without me noticing *anything* when the second file starts
