I have an mpeg that is broken into 2 parts. I want to burn them to a disc and hopefully combine them. I am guessing I would have to use a program on my PC to do that first and was wondering which one may work for this purpose? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have tried to search and have not come up with the right combination of words to find this info by doing a search. Even a lead to where to find it would be fine as well seeing as that seems to be the M.O. in this forum.

This is normally done using a program such as ULEAD Visual Studio but for just joining two mpeg files, TMPGEnc has a merge function as part of the mpeg tools on the file menu that will combine the two files quicker. Both programs have free trials available.

TMPEGenc actually re-encodes the video files as it joins them. This can reduce quality and in many cases produce errors in the finished file. I gave up with using it because I rarely got a good result from it.

I recomend Media Joiner, formerly ReJump Movie Joiner. The unregistered version allows you to join three files at a time.

Hi!

TMPEGenc actually re-encodes the video files as it joins them.

TMPGEnc does not re-encode the video when using its "Merge&Cut" tool - with one exception. As per the "FAQ" at www.tmpgenc.net, regarding "Video Parameters", "If bitrate is different, it will be outputted as VBR."
