View Full Version : Hook up 1 DVD player to another?

This may sound a bit wacky, but here goes:

My Pioneer DVR-220 can't seem to play DVD+R DL for some reason, even though every other player I tried did.
Unfortunately, the DVR is hooked up to a nice big plasma and it would truly be a crime not to be able to play these disks on it.

No one seems to know why this may be happening, so I'm thinking of buying some cheap DVD player and hook it up to one of the DVR's inputs (same way I did with a VCR, works fine).

Is this a feasable workaround? or am I crazy?

Any advice will be appreciated.

it should work .
you would need to turn your plasma to the dvr channel and then set your dvr player to show your scart channel.
rather then a simple dvd player you might want to consider a media box like the ones discussed here, just a thought

Thanks Spiderman123 for the advice,
Picked up a 40$ US Cyberhome player at best buy, hooked it up and...

IT WORKS!

Quality is not as great as from the Pioneer directly but I can live with this. I still wish I knew why even the cheapest players can play the DL disks but an otherwise excellent DVR cannot.

"Quality is not as great as from the Pioneer directly but I can live with this."

Never mind this sentence, my plasma has many inputs, I just dug up an old
S-VIDEO cable and everything is OK. (this cheap DVD actually has component outputs, but the TV only has 2 component inputs and they are in use)

For anyone with in a similar situation this is a nice cheap workaround!
