.divx settop compatability questions

Ok ive searched every variance I can think of and got Sorry No Results every time,
Now my question is if i were to use divx6 or divxhelium the end result would be .divx right? is that .divx file compatable with my divx5 setop box?
can the .divx file easily be converted to .avi or converted to divx5 without loosing quality and be compliant with the box?

these are just hypothetial questions
the settop box is a LG LDA 530
