I did a search and couldn't find anything for "Top rated playesr" or "best players"
So I ask you guys (In your humble opinions)*, whats the top rated, or best DVD+MPEG4 player for a home theatre?
I looked through some guides a bit, and saw information on trying to avoid certain chips and such. But I'd just like the model name of the best DVD+MPEG4 player (Xvid/DivX/etc).
Bonus points if it can play all those Oggvorbis + Xvid files like .MKV and .OGM
Even .WMV files would be cool to play.
:)
EDIT: *Sorry. This is just an opinion question.
So in other words:
What player is reliable and can handle MPEG4 and WMV along with DVDs?

Hello cannibustacap and welcome to the forum,
I'm sorry to say you did not get off to a very good start with your first post.... An in this one you've managed to break "rule 12"
Thankfully you are in the correct section of the forum, where you should be able to find plenty of information regarding many different makes/models of MPEG-4/DVD player ;)
Cheers and good luck.....

This one (http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDname=&Search=Search&divx=1&chipset=&country=&orderby=Rating&hits=50&Submit2=Search) is a rank such as the one you are looking for. If you don't know the site, I beleive I could say it's the place where the majority of the internet users go to review the DVD players. So you are reading user reviews there.
As far as DVD players are concerned, the fact that the manufacters have multiple versions of the same piece of hardware to be sold in different markets/countries is the reason because the shootout reviews of these players are really hard to find on the internet. I've found a source though that helped me deciding on the player I bought. Take a loot at it (http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/masterindex_video_players.html). Maybe other members have anything to help on this kind of matter - once you choose a selection of players of your interest.
Also this topic (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=98228) was extremely useful to me.
I ended up buying the Pioneer DV-588A-s (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_15020669_236572701,00.html) (that isn't perfect (http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDnameid=5551&Search=Search&#comments)) because this was the best deal I could make.
P.S.: maybe the Philips 642 was the first and the last player to rank at the top undoubtedly. Nowadays the market for these devices is much wider.
