Hello All,

I've got a problem with getting WMV's to render on Media Player Classic.
files fail to render. I've had this issue before under the same circumstances.
That is, When I reinstall windows I've got to work to make them render, but I
still don't know HOW i get them to render. I play with the settings until they
work. I've got all the codecs installed. I've check that they render under
Windows Media Player, and they do. They just fail to render under Classic.

This one is stumping me, and has since the beginning.

Thanks...

Try activating "WM ASF Reader" at Options/Tweaks.

@Ice =A=: This doesn't have anything to do with it.

Just install wmfdist (http://pcastell.free.fr/Microsoft/wmfdist.exe)
and everything should really be working fine.

Before I install that, could you tell me what this wmfdist actually is?
Thanks!

first google hit for wmfdisp tells you:

What is WMFDist.exe?
WMFDist.exe is a file of Windows Media Format including Windows Media Video and Audio. The WMFDist.exe file contains Windows Media Format 9 Series Runtime files by Microsoft.

Bad_Cat: thanks for the info, do you know the difference with wmfdist.exe and the WM9Codecs.exe? should I install WM9Codecs.exe if I've installed wmfdist.exe

thanks

do you know the difference with wmfdist.exe and the WM9Codecs.exe?
WM9Codecs.exe are updated codecs for .avi files and wmfdist.exe is support for wma/wmv playback if I am correct.

should I install WM9Codecs.exe?

I'd say if you're happy with the way your OS behaves - don't do anything against it.
