Hi all,
I have made lot's of rips of my dvd movies with nero digital, they are all good, but now i have a notebook with a turion 64 and a ati radeon xpress 200m (64 meg shared ram from system) and I have windows xp pro +sp2, just like the other pc's I ripped upon.
But If I make a rip with this notebook the rips are infested with artifacts, especially around static text (I mean text that doesnt move and stays on the screen for a couple of seconds)
Does anyone know how this is possible?? Or why the **** this happens? :D ... cause i really dont get it, and i really would like to make my rips on this notebook (because of the really fast passes)
thanks in advance !!
ps: i made all the rips with the same settings, same (read: latest) version of nero digital

sorry for the late reply; here's the screenshot from a rip from the x-files movie.

it really is strange because when i play it with ffdshow, the picture is perfect, but with nero's directshow filter is has this kind of things in it; so the artifacts are in Nero Showtime allways present. That's a pitty because i would like to use it on sh owtime mobile on my pda...
ps: the playback is f*cked up on every computer i try, except when i use the ffdshow filter. there arent much from those green/red thingies but there are from those white blocked artifacts, like you can so down right from the green/red thingie :p

Try to encode same material with same settings in x264.

well if ffdshow doesnt show the problem, than its pretty clear that its a nero decoder bug
encoding the same stream with the same settings might not at all trigger the same bug

If you encode the same thing with your other computer (not the Turion64 notebook) ,and you say there's no artifacts, does ShowTime play it without artifacting also with Turion?
But when you encode with Turion64, it doesn't matter in which computer you use ShowTime, there's always artifacts, but only with ShowTime and not with FFDShow?
Strange.. Maybe some slight incompatibility with the Turion64.

Yep indeed John V... but the problem has been found! :D eventually it has nothing to do with the turion... I noticed (silly me) that i've also enabled interlaced VOP support in the expert settings, although all my dvd movies are progressive scan, and that wasn't the case on my other computers.
I don't know how you guys look at it, but since I've only enabled SUPPORT for it, it shouldn't interfere with the playback of the movie, so I still remain with the idea that it is a serious bug in the nero playback decoder, like bond allready suggested.
I'm ripping now, disabled support for interlaced vop, and they look beautiful, wether i play it in showtime or with ffdshow!!!
thank you all for giving attention to my problem, I really appreciate it.
