Get a Cyclic Redundancy Check Error during the analysis phase of DVD shrink at 56% with DVD Elektra. Tried DVD Decrypter in file F, ISO and IFO I modes but get error messages there also. What should I do? I got this cyclic redundancy check error with the movies Hitch and XXX State of the Union, but DVD Decryter took care of them. For some reason, DVD decryter won´t solve the problem with Elektra. HELP!!!

Yes, I am TRYING to rip to my hard drive using DVD shrink and get the cyclic redundancy error. When I run DVD Decypher, I get an I/O Error.
Interpretaion: Read (10) -Sector: 20058418.
Interpretaion: Unrecoverable read error.
I'll try ripping with my laptop to see if it is the hard drive on my desktop causing the problem.

A CRC error indicates that there's either a problem with the physical DVD (scratched, dirty, Peanut Butter and Jelly) - or "ARccOS" copy protection, that DVD Shrink cannot resolve. First, try cleaning the DVD. If DVD Shrink still generates this error:

Use DVD Decrypter v.3.54 to "rip" the DVD to your hard drive in "File" mode - and from the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "All files" (NOT "movie files").

Then use DVD Shrink v.3.2xxx to "Open files" (NOT "Open Disk")

If that doesn't do the trick, return it to the place of purchase in exchange for a NEW replacement...

I tried the above but it didnt help me so i thought i might post my findings.

I recently had this problem on a home movie made by my digital camera. I tried Shrink and Decrypter and neither of them would rip it. In the end, i tried Windows Explorer and simply copied the files which worked a treat. It did require a few retrys to get some of the files but, it worked.

...but that won't work with a production DVD with even the most basic protection. I'm sure CALIMA has either found a solution or given up in the year since the original post, but RipIt4Me is one of the best solutions at the moment.

No, CALIMA still goes on trying to rip that DVD :rolleyes:
