Hello,
I have been faithfully using DVD Shrink, DVD decrypter, Nero setup for about a year. All of a sudden I cannot make a backup. Here is what happens on the DVD Analysis it always stops just after the Main DVD Menu in the preview. If I try DVD decrypter it stops a short way through. I tried to download other DVD solutions with the same result. So obviously it is my pc. I tried to restart the PC running minimal services and reinstalling Shrink and Decrypt. Nothing has changed.. Could someone please point me in the correct direction to trouble shoot. I have tried all I can think of. Oh Also I tried many DVD's about 6.

Are you able to PLAY any DVDs on PC?
The laser of your DVD player (DVD-ROM) or DVD burner may either be dirty or out of alignment. If so, if it's dirty, it might benefit from running a DVD/CD cleaning disc on it. Maxell makes one that sells for approximately $10US...

I read your post telling someone else that and I am going to definitely try it. But I was wondering if it was dirty why it would always stop on most disks at that same point after the DVD menu. I also tried a slightly older one and it worked. I hate to post but I have to ask. Is it possible Rental companies are now adding something to their disks to prevent backups?

Stopping at the same point on different DVDs is a very usual symptom of either a dirty or out of alignment laser
I also tried a slightly older one and it worked
Make sure you are using DVD Decrypter v.3.54 and not an older version. Your more recent DVDs may have a copy protection ("ARccOS") that older versions of DVD Decrypter cannot process...

I have current DVDDycrypter. I tried Jungle book2, xxxStateof the Union, Man of the house, all from my online rental. then out of my own collection I can do Irobot, The Mummy2, etc.. Do you think they are doing something to the disks?
I am tempted to try buying another burner to see. What is the best or most popular one on the market now? Plextor? panasonic?

I'd suggest you first try the cleaning disc - only $10US
I tried Jungle book2, xxxStateof the Union, Man of the house
"Jungle Book 2" Does NOT have any advanced copy protection
If I remember correctly, both "XXX State of the Union" and "Man of the House" contain "ARccOS" copy protection - and DVd Decrypter v.3.54 should be able to address the Region 1 versions of these DVDs properly.
all from my online rental
I'll presume you were just experimenting and would have destroyed any successful backups, since copying DVDs that you don't own is illegal...
