I am trying to encode the 90's Batman Series, and it is a dark cartoon, so I wanna know if there is a good way to do filter effects on really dark areas. Deen and other smoothers work good on light parts, but in dark parts, it really doesn't do to much on like dark blue and red, or even brown. Is there a way to do like 10x more filtering towards the dark areas with Deen. I did a search, but I didn't find what I was looking for, and make sure the script will work and what filters i need to load, cause I use VirtualDubMods script editer.

You can try Shadow Smoother, a Vdub plugin - http://www.geocities.com/gc_timsara/vdub.html

Well, I can't tell you what filters to use, but you might try a script containing:

Invert()

SomeFilters()

Invert()

or even:

levels(0,2,255,0,255,coring=false)
fliters()
levels(0,.5,255,0,255,coring=false)

but that'd incur a slight precision loss and may result in banding (i doubt it'll be noticable on a flat animation). this is where 16-bit processing would rock the most.
