Dear all, I have been collecting video content from various artists in various formats and transcoding it for web streaming on my website.

In future i would also like to be able to use this content for transmission at high quality over satellite or cable all around the world on both PAL and NTSC systems. So my questions are, in order to have a consistent and forward and cross system compatible archive:

1. what format should i archive content in bearing in mind i would like high quality with minimum storage requirements?

2. What pixel size is best? 720 X something? or is 640 x 480 ok?

3. Should i use 25fps or 30fps?

4. What type of interlacing should i use? Interlaced (top/bottom) or Progressive?

5. Should i use the AVI container or something else?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Kind Regards

those two would depend on whether you are working in PAL or NTSC

most of the others will depend on what you are going to rely on for playback for the files.
