Which cannot automagically be "registered" as a universal de-codec? I`m talking of VP50 - "vp5vfw.dll" - how do I use that with VirtualDub(Mod) to open AVI streams encoded with VP50?

Generally use regdrop -- can't say if this works or not with vp50 dll.
Have you tried install of VP6 or 7?
