View Full Version : Can't get more than 2 passes w/CCE&DVD RB

Just upgraded from DVD RB freebie to DVD RB Pro, and am very pleased with the extended flexibility of the pro version.

However, I have a slight dilemma (no doubt due to my ignorance) when trying to encode with CCE (either 2.67 OR 2.50). All goes well in the Prep stage as it does in the Encoding phase -- EXCEPT I can't get it to encode with more than 2 passes VBR. I have it set properly in DVD RB (4 passes) as well as in CCE's settings (multi pass VBR w/4 passes), but no dice. When I used DVD RB free versions I was able to effect all the passes I specified.

What am I missing here?!?

uninstall the old version and use the installer to install the pro version 9 times out of 10 this solves the problem

Thanks for the advice. What actually worked was to uninstall CCE 2.50 and just encode with 2.67 -- which did the trick. Just out of curiousity, I reinstalled 2.50 and tried it once more. Still only 2 passes. Perhaps having both installed on my system (though only 2.50 needs Ecl) forces this phenomenon.

I also am using ProCoder2 that has been bringing about some impressive results -- also much faster than 2.67, even when when using filters that make CCE even that much slower. Of course PC2 only does 2 passes and I usually do 4 with CCE, which would account for the diference.

Peace...

I've had CCE 2.50, 2.67 and 2.70 on my system before all run happily once DVD-RB Pro has been told what encoder I'm using

Maybe you forgot to do this, DVD-RB will fall over if not told the exact version of CCE you are using

Thanks again, but I told DVD-RB the versions (along with ProCoder) I'm using with the setup utility, which wisely knows that versions over 2.62 don't require Ecl. I know that 2.50 is a bit faster than 2.67, but as I usually do overnight encodings, so it's not a huge issue -- so goodybe 2.50; it's not worth dealing with the problem :sly:
