Nope. We simply delete stuff from our target drive so the complete rip from DVD Shrink will fit on it. Easy as that.

Before DVD Shrink burns, it drops its files temporarily to a folder of your choice. This is slected after you hit backup.

Check the drive for any large files - VOBs, ISOs and delete them. Of course, do not delete the ones that you're working with. Just the "old" ones.

you really need to read a few guides on dvdshrink to get a basic understanding. Doom9 has a great one here

@ChrisHampel

The final target may be your DVD-Writer, but Shrink has to store a copy of the files on the hard drive temporarily since it's impossible for it to transcode and write to the DVD-Writer at the same time. The files are NOT deleted when Shrink is done. So you probably have a ton of old Shrink-movie files on your hard drive if you've never removed them. Or you were using the same folder previously, but then changed recently??

Look carefully at the pop-up menu options after you press Backup. The first box should be the final target destination (your DVD-Writer, or to a folder on a HD, or as an ISO, or as an ISO to be burned by DVD-Decrypter, etc.)

The next box below that should be the location of either the final files or the location of the temporary files if you're choosing your DVD-Writer as your final target destination.

Chris,

I have had the same problem. The problem is, the target DVD disc you have holds only that 4.464 gigs. The shrink program is not getting it below this number. It has nothing to do with the write files on your hard drive. You just need to remove French subtitles or AC2 or any format, then custom shrink a few categories until you get your target back to 4.464 gig. I generally leave the main movie on Auto and trash the rest in custom so most of the space available automatically goes to the main movie. Its better to have ugly menus than an ugly movie if you have to make that choice.
