Im wondering how, in a forum so big like this, nobody still answer what cause the weird "memory could not be read" that happens with several app.

HC Encoder
FreeEnc 0.44
FreeEnc 0.31
Headac3he
PowerDVD
avicodec
AutoQMatEnc
EclCreate
CCE (version?)

http://img345.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hcerror25mi.png

So I create a workaround:

Updated:

Here is a general tool, for any app that gives you the error "memory could not be "read"" in Windows XP.
Unzip it where you want and create a direct access and put it in Start folder.
Kill-error will run in background and, when an app gives you the error, error window will be closed automatically.

If you want to unload the program, you need to do it from task manager.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OUTDATED: This is an old version.

Please don't take it as double posting.
I posted it to fix an HC Encoder problem, but it is a more general tool also.
Thanks.

For the moment you can deal with "memory could not be read" error in this way:

Batch file, Kill-Error.bat has this code:

@echo off
rem I like this color
color 17
Title HC Encoder error killer by Prodater64

:cmdow
timeout 10>nul
for /f "tokens=8*" %%I in ('cmdow') do (
if "%%J" equ "HCbatch 0.15 beta - by hank315: HCbatch_015.exe - Application Error" (
cmdow "HCbatch 0.15 beta - by hank315: HCbatch_015.exe - Application Error"* /cls & goto :cmdow
)
)
goto :cmdow

Note that quoted parameter following "cmdow" and "equ" is the error window message caption when HC Encoder want to close.
This batch file is an infinite loop, it is for you to deal with your problem by the moment, so to work with it, just run the bat file.
Once finished your work with HC Encoder, just close cmd window.
You can adapt this to any program that gives you a similar error, or another one, ever that that error dont be a critical one, it is to say, your app should keep running after and despite the error.

Let me be the first to say thank you Luis for providing this fix.

While testing your prediction tool ProCalc_Lite I ran into that error that HC batch throws up when it tries to exit and now thanks to this fix of yours it is history and I am very pleased to be able to use HC without errors. Now I can test also HC with DVD-RB.

Great work Luis. :D

The error popups when you run kill-error or when "memory couldn't be read" does appear?

the "memory couldn't be read" is the error msg, as the vid conversion stops dead in it's tracks until I close that msg window. It does this wether your HCkill error is running or not, at least the one you pointed me too earlier. Hank sent me a test build to try out for him, but it still throws out that mem error when it is done, so I still have to release it for the conversion to continue. That & the beta of GSpot are the only two apps I have ever had this issue with

This doesn't answer my question. Im interested in WBT error.
It does appear when you run kill-error or after HC Encoder "memory" error arise?

It happend when HC is done encoding. The Mem error & WBT error both pop at the same time as my earlier screencap showed.

It semi-works (allows HC to close when done), but still leaves a wbt error window open.

Are you sure that is not a different error (previous one was error 271)?

sorry, forgot to screencap it before closing. However,did another project later on last night & only got the normal "out of memory error" again, this time no wbt error, & the hc error killer was running at the time. So the first time it stopped the HC error & allowed the project to complete ( but displayed wbt error), 2nd time, got memory error, msg which stopped HC from closing out, & no wbt error...

Well, tell me if wbt error does appear again, and don't forget to take a screenshot.

OK...my bad on my earlier post - it appears that the hc error killer wasn't enabled for the second project.
Restarted system, verified hc killer was up & just now completed another short avi/HC project.
This time, saw out of memory error msg, but then it closed, no wbt error at all & avi2dvd comtinued on to complete project! So it seems that it is working! Will do afew more to verify this. Many thanks for this "tool". Hank is working on beta17 now, trying to fix this issue too.

bengali-

If your need for it has to do with the HC encoder, then you need just to download the newest version of it, Hank has already fxed the memory error several versions back.

The HC encoder just hangs after conversion no error but CCE gives the error. I gotten hold of the files now. Thanks mate.
