I was easily able to extract the PCM audio (and convert to WAV). I had to use DGIndex to do it but I put the 0.VOB in and told it to Demux, and deleted the D2V after. I then converted this audio to AC3, and it will save me a whole 24MB (I know it's not much) if I can mux this AC3 back with the VOB without losing its button data. Anything at all that can do that?

Yes, I did search.

Thanks in advance.

you will need to use muxman, vobblanker and pgcedit to do this.(or dvdremake pro instead of vobblanker and pgcedit).
take a look that this guide (http://dvdguides.netgeekhosting.com/guides/edit_menu/). you don't need all the steps but it gives you an idea on what you have to do.

Thanks, that guide worked for me perfect (going about it my way for some). I used the M2V's of the menu cells instead of BMP graphics hehe. The only problem now is that the menu has lost the hovering graphic that it would display. I can click but I'm wondering how bad it would be on a normal DVD player if there was no icon to tell you where you are pointing at. Is there an easy fix?

Tatsh,
did you demux the subs from the original vob?
or does this menu have animated highlights?

It was just highlights, not animated. Currently trying to use http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=92211 and http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=93294

I had no idea I had to extract those. I haven't done a DVD backup this complex before.

here are the basic steps
1. export menu with pgcedit
2. demux everything (video and subs) with pgcdemux in cell mode
3. mux with muxman with new audio original video and subs(can have more than one)
4. replace cell with vobblanker
5. import with pgcedit

I did that but it didn't seem to work, so what I did was mess around with the colors in PGCedit for each button, setting color schemes. The only problem is that I could get the first menu to highlight correctly but I put the same exact color scheme in menu 2 and 3 (both are animated chapter previews) and they still don't highlight. Is it because of the animated chapter previews? The "MAIN" and "BACK/NEXT" buttons are not animated and they also do not show highlight color.

you have to do each pcg(menu) separate.
some pgc can have two cells. you would have to replace and import both cells.

what you should do is examine your menu with pgcedit or vobblanker, both give you info on the pgc with previews. (pgc#, duration, #of buttons, # of cells and language units.) make notes on what ones you have to edit and audio you want to change. then do each one separate form the others. it's a lot of work.

what you can you is just replace the audio for the main menu the use menushrink or vobblanker's motion2still to still without audio(do you really need audio in the sub menus?) the other menus. you can save even more space that way too and faster.

Actually, you wouldn't believe how much space is wasted on this DVD to make it a DVD9. Not only Linear PCM audio, but VIDEO_TS.VOB was formally a 600MB of nothing but fading from black to grey over and over.

What I did was replaced the audio for the first menu, the submenus had silent PCM audio so I told muxman to just not mux an audio stream into them. There's only 3 menus total, and each is 1 cell.

I have shrunk the DVD with DVD Rebuilder now because I know changing the highlight colors in PgcEdit won't affect size at all, but I still need to get the colors to work on submenus 2 and 3.

The menu has been shrunk from 141MB to 114MB. Neat switch around.

And just in case anyone does care, this DVD is RIYU KOSAKA FIRST LIVE at O-EAST 2005, shown here: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-a9-15-riyu-70-pvk.html. Boy the CD ripping was not such a hassle. Since I've dealt with 3 DVDs so far from Konami Multimedia, I know that Konami sure likes Linear PCM over AC3 it seems.
