Hello again :)

I am using vegas video to open some VOBs but the problem is that vegas does not recognizes the sound on it, and it does not open the AC3 file i got when i ripped the DVD...

1) is there a way to convert the AC3 file to any format compatible with Vegas Video?

and the strange thing, maybe someone can clear it up, when i open the VOB with TMPEG encoder, it recognize sound on it (Stereo), and i don't need the AC3 file...

2) so, does the VOB come with sound? if yes, why do I get an additional AC3 file when i rip my DVDs?

sorry if this is a dumb question :D

I am still a newbie in this :D

Vegas will not open ac3 files. There are several methods to convert to wav format - suggest reading posts/guides/stickies.

VOB files usually contain one video stream, one or more audio streams in Dolby Digital (ac3) &/or DTS.

"when i open the VOB with TMPEG encoder, it recognize sound on it"
Different programs do different things.

You might try using the ac3 acm filter, which should allow the ac3 to be decompressed via the vfw interface.

Apparently, installing Movie Studio does the trick: No luck ripping DVD's into Vegas using AutoGk (http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=49826)

Interesting. :)

Know the d/show filters in DVDA won't cross over... Devel. used to just cripple Vegas -- wonder if that means new Vegas capabilities, or just better mainstream apps?

As far as ripping to Vegas, in my experience anyway, neither Vegas nor Prem Pro generates as good a picture as DGIndex/Dgdecode, and can lose frames with VFAPI. While an extra step, & should lose a lot of quality, simple avs script to V/Dub, rendering to avi for import seems very noticably better after encoding in Vegas to mpg2.

Get BeLight-0.22_beta6 (http://corecodec.org/projects/belight/) and
Get BeSweet (http://besweet.notrace.dk/BeSweetv1.4.zip)

Unzip BeLight, and then unzip BeSweet INSIDE of the BeLight folder. These free tools easily convert AC3 files to MP3's and other formats.
